I like that they're not making Aegon just another Joffrey. Showing things like his love for his son, and him at least TRYING to help the smallfolk (even if it's more to make them like him) are good for humanizing him just a little. He's still a selfish prick, but he's not a sadistic monster like Joffrey.

Helaena's scene at the end was a hell of a lot darker in the book. There she was forced to choose between 2 sons for which would die, and they killed the opposite after telling the kid his mother chose for him to die.

Holy hell, what an opening!

This was so good! I know everyone talks about choosing teams, and I do want Rhaenyra on the throne, I just still can’t bring myself to hate Alicent. Especially when she lit that candle for Rhaenyra’s son. Meanwhile when they butchered the baby I couldn’t believe it. There were a lot more noises than one stab. D:

Not only did she light the candle for Luke, she called him "Lucerys *Velaryon*". After she had been decrying him as a bastard all last season.

Great acting.... Did you realize that Rhaenyra only said one line the entire episode?

Yep, I think I even mentioned it in my thoughts, but I did pick up she was silent throughout the entire episode asides from wanting Aemond
