Daemon is such a troll, I love him. Stealing an egg, specifically the one Rhaenyra picked out for the baby, sending a letter with every triggering idea he could think up including lying about getting married and having a baby, just for some attention. And then immediately folds because Rhaenyra calls his bluff immediately and is like "I know you're a lying liar who lies, and since we both know there's no way you're gonna kill me you better stop acting out!" is just gold. Truly iconic scene 😂

I love the way they are subtly portraying that the underlying core of Daemon’s character is that he loves his family, and I think Rhaenyra understands him better than anyone else, and for all of his posturing, I think she still knows that she can trust her uncle, they have a similar banter about him staying in her castle that they had about him sitting on the throne. I think Daemon’s line at the end of the episode is the most telling for his true character, and his sense of honour and loyalty, the king is his brother and so he can speak about him however he wants to, but don’t think that means you get to cross those lines in front of him.

What I love about that scene between Daemon and Corlys is how it clearly established how Daemon cares about his family. Essentially telling Corlys, "I can mess with and talk about my family how I want to, but you can't." Daemon is really up there as my favorite character. He's such a rogue and charismatic trickster. He's cold and conniving on the outside but a big softie on the inside.

The scene with the maggots was my favorite. In that scene we see that King Visyres wound on his hand has only gotten worse and its the wound he got when he sent his brother away, the wound, like their relationship has festered. Also the symbolism there, the King's hand is rotten. It could be physical and a reflection of Otto Hightower, who pretty skillfully manipulates the king into marriage with his daughter.

The opening is the Targaryen family tree. Sync the time stamps with the episode: 0:04 - Doom of Valyria and Aegon's crown 0:13 - Rhaenys and Visenya 0:20 - Aenys 0:27 - Jaehaery and Alysane 0:35 - Baelon and Alyssa 0:43 - Daemon 0:50 - Viserys and Aemma (Arryn sigil) 1:00 - Dead Baelon 1:10 - Rhaenyra If you look closely, you can actually see the gears drown in blood in the order that they died (Alysanne’s is submerged before Jaehaerys’, Alyssa’s is before Baelon’s, and obviously Aemma’s is before Viserys’). Using the GOT theme is a smart move because it would be very difficult to beat it, so any other theme Ramin created, people would compare it to the old one. I understand why some people wanted a new theme, but no one dislikes GOT's opening song.

2nd episode of the series and these characters aren’t just pulling my heartstrings they’re actually making me shed tears. Like Rheanyra I also lost my mom far too soon, and while the pain has gotten easier to bear, like Viserys said it’s a pain that will *never* go away. This is the reason I loved Game Of Thrones, not only for the large scale battles or political machinations, but especially these genuine and beautiful moments of love, friendship and family.

I’m team Daemon and Rhaenyra from now on. He’s a grey character and both their actors are so strong and steal every scene. Although Rhaenyra did apply logic to her choice to appoint Ser Criston Cole as a knight of the king's guard, she knew he was the only one who had seen combat beforehand; that's why she mentioned the battle at The Stormlands. The reason she said that is so she would have a subtle excuse to appoint him, because she has a thing for him. She was looking around the courtyard for him the entire time, she's completely enamored with that man. And she thinks she's slick, but Otto knows what she's up to. That's why he smirks at her when he says "Of course, Princess..." -

People say daemon is reckless and throwing tantrums, I actually think he picked that specific egg to see rhaenyra… (as well as being a clown cause he provokes everyone lol) idk man idk he’s doing something tho, I don’t think his actions are just basic attention grabs. They may be tho too he keeps being set aside Best scene so far, the shots were so clean. Viserys just made the same mistake that Robb Stark did, and Raeghar…. Chose his own want and therefore inevitably losing in the future.

I've heard a little fandom whining about the dragons being different than the ones on GoT, as if there were supposed to be only one breed or species of dragon ever, which is ridiculous. Caraxes and Syrax are awesome and I won't hear otherwise. I will say I like the new opening, but I wish they'd changed the theme song at least a little bit. I'm not a fan of the post-episode bts interviews though, because the creators keep contradicting my interpretation of the characters. It's not their job to tell me what the characters are feeling, it's their job to show it up on the screen.
