The British paid a stipend to Abdulaziz Ibn Saud, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia, during the early 20th century. This stipend was part of a broader effort by the British to secure alliances in the Arabian Peninsula during World War I. In 1915, Ibn Saud signed the Treaty of Darin with the British, under which he received a subsidy of £5,000 a month and military supplies in exchange for supporting British interests against the Ottoman Empire. The House of Back Stabbers

you must admire the political acumen of King Abdulazziz who unified an entire peninsula through marriage diplomacy and military conquest. otherwise the country would have collapsed as Soviet Union. the only other country who faced similar problems and managed so far, although with many problems, was India.

it is but true that either wisdom comes or it doesn't and wealth can easily spiral into hedonistic lifestyle which it has been all the time, but of course a wise one knows what to do with largesse they receive from nature and aided and abetted by human skills and minds.

Now another fact which emerged in western modern educated middle east brood of sons king Faizal got kingdom at late 50's a right age when whatever youthful follies are over and done with and certain wisdom and world view and intellect sets in... from 50's to 70' s is right age to shoulder responsibility of huge nature, also not beyond that because despite whatever caution, care in personal health, decline in physical strength happens and could be also in cognitive ones though that might not be true all the time depends on your diet and lifestyle

property of middle east fuels is theirs, that much is true, but all of it got developed from western engineering of earlier times I guess they were more honorable in their behaviors it got all haywires including the middle east also I am not saying it's all wests fault but caught in grip of monetary financial quagmire I guess they had to do what they were told to do, but you do not kill their rivals for them tell them to do it themselves.
