@@jackyflowers3493 that's not always true. I strived and succeeded in being the exact opposite of my Ma (except her good work ethics). My Ma was physically and verbally abusive to me growing up. She chased my Pop away and I left shortly after....at almost 13. I graduated a year early and my coaches always made sure I had anything I needed for the sports I played. It's not where you come from. It's what you make of where you come from. I retired from law enforcement where I worked a lot with juvenile offenders. *out of 4 children only my oldest brother and myself did well. My other two brothers are drug addicts with a long criminal record.....and my Ma doted on those two frowners.

That was a first for me. I had never heard of it. I’m just trying to imagine a child’s life in there with all the noise and probably drunken fights and screaming and loose women....Geez ! No way he could have had a proper night sleep or feel secure in there. I don’t think he could even count on his mother for his basic needs and protection from the ill intended adults surrounding him. The perfect combination to create a totally unfeeling creature. Sadly, he’s not the only one.

A lot of children grew up in even worse environments and with a lot more abuse and don't do the things he did. In the end he's responsible for his own actions.

I had a despicable childhood I was raped and beaten everyday from I was 5 until I was 11 I'm so tired of hearing about ppl who were criminals because of an abusive childhood this is bs they were like this because they chose not to rise above this I became pregnant at 16 and raised her and her brother and sister and we're all just fine and know of several others excluding my siblings that went thru the abusive life it's a cop-out crutch

Not everyone has the natural ability emotionally to rise above things like this and if you think everyone does just because you do ....well that's a selfish way of thinking. Not everyone can just choose to rise above something. It's not always that easy. Everyone in the world is not the same. Everyone is different and everyone's life and situation is different and some worse than others. Don't compare everyone to yourself as nature just don't work that way. It's not always that someone chooses not to rise above something. It's sometimes because they just can't or they don't know how to. Many people are more sensitive towards things that happen to them in their life than others can be. Charles Manson was obviously one of those people. He was not totally evil. He had serious mental problems because of his evil upbringing. He said himself that he wished that his mother had cared more about him. Then he wouldn't have turned out so bad. I don't think he said that for nothing. He just trying to be honest.

There are no studies or statistics that show people who had bad childhoods commit any more murders than anyone else. Actually most killers had normal childhoods. Some had strange childhoods but usually because they were strange kids. On the other hand most people by far who had terrible childhoods grow up to live normal lives, so just saying they were killers because they didn't have good childhoods is lame. Killers come from all social groups. Some are born bad and some just choose to be bad. So far nobody has been able to prove 'all' are born that way . Some are born bad and some become bad. It doesn't change the fact that if they choose to kill or they are born to kill they are all evil.

I think they should just tear it down. It's sort of a destination for people that shouldn't be, especially those who worship or glamorize Manson and his life, crimes and imprisonment. And, it's just a matter of time before someone really gets hurt in there. You'd think whoever owns the property would like to raze the building and either leave it bare or put something else there ... not a place to "commemorate." Maybe the local fire dept. could use it as a controlled burn for training.

@@gottogoalltheway Maybe to you but not to me. MK ultra is a government operation that was conducted on alot of people starting out when they was young. It's not up to me to try and get you to believe the way I do. My outlook on life is agree to disagree. Research and draw your own conclusions. My research takes me down lots of rabbit holes which states that everything is connected in one way or another across the world. Once you learn the truth about all the evil things that has been going on for thousand's of years behind the scenes, without the public's knowledge, you will never look at the world in which we live in, the same again. As for me, I can't unsee, nor can I ever forget what has been done to the children. Love and Light always. I hope you have a blessed afternoon.

His mother was from Ashland if I recall correctly, and he spent time there as a boy as well - presumably when he was dumped off onto relatives by his mother.

The house used in Psycho was actually a set in Hollywood and I think it still stands today. Talk about a scary movie! Has to be one of the best ever. Never forget the shower scene! 🙂

It looks like it could have been a beautiful place when it was originally built. It's a shame to see these old places fall apart, but when you swung the camera around, and it was in the middle of nowhere, it makes a little more sense that someone eventually let it go.

I live not even 5 minutes from the other child hood home in West Virginia

He was in the Petersburg 'Central State facility at one time. My Dad helped build it. Manson did at least eight criminal acts while there. Thanks for a great video.

Even in its current state the stories that house could tell we can only imagine no other way to slice it Charles Manson was a lost soul from early as childhood won't get any sympathy from me or I imagine to many others.

Mansen was never parolled nor did he deserve to be for what he did. He died in prison at age 83, cancer I think. In the childhood photo he doens't yet have the Nazi swastika on his forehead! I'm glad you went upstairs. I was hoping you would. Great tour. Too bad there's so much vandalism. I wonder who owns the place now? Strange he was supposedly worth $400,000 when he died. You two come across some interesting places. I like Melody's hat! :-)

I used to land survey in rural Virginia, Kentucky, and West Virginia. I saw many places like this, always used to have a fascination with them wondering what their history was. Seeing one with this history is morbidly fascinating to say the least. Hard to believe someone raised in this ramshackle old place in rural Kentucky would one day order murders in the fancy 10050 Cielo Drive in Hollywood. Makes you think for sure

Crazy we left LA the winter of 1969 to northern California then we heard of the killings then in 1981 I moved to Hanford CA just north of Charlies now place in Corcorran CA State prison. I think he followed me. Also lived in El Dorado Hills CA right next to Tex Watson who was in Mule Creek prison and still is to this day. Now am glad to be away from all that in Arkansas.

Since we're talking about the Bates I tell I went through universal studios on a tour and I saw that place and there was no way I was going to go near it.

I bet there’s some ghosts in there....👻☠️💀💯

This house/building looks pretty solid. Probably kickass construction that will still be standing a hundred years from now even if no one lifts a finger. The wood doesn't even look rotten. Somebody must be roofing it.

I would have worried about asbestos as well. Kewl to see. All these years of hearing of his story had always been creepy. Especially too the girls he had with him. How he even convinced these girls to join him in on the crime. Be safe guys. Thanks for sharing.

The girls were using drugs, i've read & I'm sure that could of been some of the reason they followed him? I've read the CIA was doing tests on them with LSD* but my daughter says I need to stop believing everything I read on the internet* :)

He has always gave me the creeps and now to know he has given another bad reason on poor West Virginia and Kentucky it’s not their fault.

Once ya hear the real story about Manson, it makes the official lies look ridiculous.

I don't consider myself a superstitious person, but there is not enough money to induce me to spend a night alone in that place. Truly one of the creepiest places imaginable. I understand why some folks might think of making a tourist destination out of it, but not me! I'm kinda hoping that the next random tornado that whips through the area avoids every other building there -- except for this one! I believe "clean sweep" would be the phrase that comes to mind? I remember that there was a small farm town in this area of NW Ohio that had a population of about 1200. And naturally there were quite a few farms in the periphery around that town. Somehow this population generated enough "business" to support a "house of ill repute" (as they used to be called.) It was a fairly rundown older wooden structure, not too much different from what this one looks like. I often wondered what the spouses of the business owners/shopkeepers/farmers/plumbers, etc. who patronized the place thought when they and their families drove past that place. (It was on a fairly well-traveled road about 5 miles from the town.) It seemed to be one of those things that no one ever talked about. Period. It's been gone for about 10 years now. That would have made one interesting short story or novel, for sure. On a more positive note, I hope you're feeling better by the day, Melody. Those lingering coughs can be bothersome, but it sounds as though your lungs are "clearing out," as they say. Lotsa prayers for you both. 😀

It’s not Ramsey it’s Ramey, I found out about it in the Knott County newspaper back in 2007 I believe when it came out. I am kin to him threw my fathers mother. My last name is Terry and his mother’s Medan name was Ramey.

When I think of him being there as a child I don't get creeped out. I think of how innocent he was at that time..what he might have got excited about..like hide and seek or coloring. He probably met alot of interesting people. He probably loved some of them. It's sometimes hard to stomach but considering the time era..he was probably called a bastard child and was looked down upon by some family members..I'm a Christian but I've seen how radically judgemental some Christians could be back then. It's a lot to think about..but I don't get creeped out looking at a place of his childhood..it was during his innocence.

I feel the same way about the place. It was a place of the years of his innocence and he was a human and did have feelings I believe. Thru out his life. Regardless of what he orchestrated. I believe he was exposed to a lot of evil as a child. And yeah some Christians are still judgemental today and don't really act like God wants them to.
