I may be talking to myself here since everyone else apparently listened to this series years ago during the live podcast, but I'm going to make a prediction that India ends up actually liking Midnight Tides. In fact, I think that there's something for everyone in Midnight Tides (interesting characters, great plot, lots of humor and Shakespeare-esque tragedy).

First time reading the series, oddly enough, simultaneously with a buddy of mine without actually knowing we were both reading the series and this was the exact same conclusion we both reached.
My god I love these discussions!
Yeah, Erikson sometimes feels like a master of foreshadowing and satisfying setups/payoffs and then other times he'll just write a scene at the end of the fourth book in his series where a couple of ancient bone bois off-handedly mention that they had ancestors but no one's ever actually seen one, only to walk through a door and have their friend get ball-blasted by the thing they just mentioned. Functionally equivalent to like, Family Guy humor.
instead of tragic my feeling towards Felisin's death was "injustice"
Guys Tavore is the leader of an army, that still has a lot of work to do. That's why you don't tell her then.
Another comment years after the original release date: Josh, you gotta give yourself more credit. I think some of the analysis has been quite insightful considering that you’ve never read this before.
