There is a whole world outside of Ontario; people that have always lived there don’t even realise- cheaper living, more space, less congestion. We moved from Ontario to Alberta 5 years ago, and I don’t know that we would ever want to go back. Y’all are doing the right thing!

I think the problem I think the for most people especially those who reside in cities is that you have to be above a certain wage to be able to afford to do that, definitely have to drive because smaller towns means no transit options. It's unfortunately not the most accessible for people who don't have the former. Not to mention less resources if the new place isn't equipped with different types of medical facilities. But for Tasha I can see why it makes sense!

Yeah, everybody is moving there 😂 unfortunately, it’s causing major cities like Calgary to now be just as unaffordable as Ontario 😢. Canada has some serious crises happening - lack of affordable housing is #1 issue for my son and I. I am eyeing a move to Edmonton, to buy a townhouse (even in a crappier area, I really don’t care, as long as it’s cheap) and work for WCB. My salary will increase tremendously, taxes decrease, and I can buy a home. Unfortunately, my kid is going into grade 11 and does not want to relocate halfway through, which I get. I am worried that in 2 years, Edmonton will be just as expensive as Calgary. It’s so discouraging to me. 😢

I live in a 2 storey townhouse in Australia and I absolutely understand the one storey rule. I loathe the stairs and even more so as I've gotten older and unwell. I have a small room downstairs I chose the be the bedroom now as I was always leaving something upstairs and my little min pin was struggling too. We are so much happier at ground level. Good luck with the house hunt - this is going to be so very exciting and rewarding for you!! 🏡♥🐕‍🦺

As someone who lives in a pretty big city in Australia, this is making me want to move to Canada. Wooooow!!! Nova Scotia looks STUNNING! And some of those prices have me shook. Can't wait to see more of the journey to move ❤Also big ups to prioritising the doggos, so many people forget their needs are just as (or more..) important as humans who depend on you ❤❤❤

Couldnt a two story work if the upstairs is the guest bed and studio and the main bed is on the ground floor? It would give you a nice quiet place to record! This is fun and really makes me want to move to Nova Scotia haha

Yes it could, but I always feel tremendous guilt when I have to go spend my whole day in the studio (which is outside) working on a project/video. It’s not so bad when Michael is home but he travels for work a lottttt so it’s actually something I’d like to not have to worry about and if it's upstairs I face similar issues carrying dogs up a flight of stairs. I have a lot of seniors and a sick dog who require lots of attention and constant care.

This was so fun and brings me back to when I was house hunting, as a dog owner I totally get looking at the space outside first for suitability for my dogs hahah. One thing I cannot deal with is sloping land, has to be flat. ALSO I just can't imagine being able to consider houses with 1+ acres. I was delighted to find somewhere with a 100ft long garden (yard). That's what I get for living on a small island hahah.

Ontario just ain't it anymore it feels like... it feels so draining these days if that makes sense. I mostly just miss my family, but am hopeful I can find something there I love just as much as the house I have now. I want to feel excited about whatever house we get, and this time around I cannot handle a full GUT. I need something that has good bones at least!

Ontario sucks 😢I’m in Kingston and I’m terrified of losing my affordable condo (I rent). I need to get out of this province. Those who owned property for the last 10 years are incredibly lucky. For those who are just buying their first home, it’s impossible. The dream is dead for a huge majority of us, including most of the average earners in this country. It sucks. 100%. No hope on the horizon either. They need to invest in tiny home communities, modular homes, wartime homes, etc . And pronto. All I see are $600,000+ homes being built but nothing that’s affordable for first time homebuyers. It’s horrible and makes me want to leave 🇨🇦. 😢

Nova Scotia has quite a few names similar. Nova Scotia does mean New Scotland after all. The landscape is similar because of the way the continents shifted millions of years ago. Nova Scotia use to be part of what is now the UK and Morocco.

We moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia for two years. Loved it…all the features of a big city…near Halifax…without the traffic and parking problems. However, it never gets warm enough. It is really pleasant in September, but you can never really swim. Even in the summer they wear wet suits to go in the water. North Atlantic cold.

I'm gonna plug the Eastern Shore versus the South Shore especially because your circle also included Musuquodobit Harbour LOL. It's up and coming and prices are a *little* cheaper because the south shore people price up the houses a lot because it's much more tourist/summer home-focused, and MH is technically still HRM and most of the south shore is not, which can be helpful when it comes to services, snow removal, etc. you'll love it here regardless!

We moved from London, Ont to a tiny town on Cape Breton Island a little over 2 yrs ago… it’s calm, peaceful & beautiful. I don’t miss London.. I miss my people, but otherwise no regrets. The only thing that is more affordable on the east coast 🌊 is the housing. We’re ok with that as that’s what we needed.. our new house 🏡 is a 10 minute walk to the ocean or a 2 minute drive. People say healthcare is worse here, but it’s crap everywhere in Canada honestly... 🤷🏻‍♀️ There are pros & cons, but that will be the case for anywhere you go. Best of luck with your house hunt!

Moved to NS from ON and now do not recommend it two years in. The healthcare is now worse than ON, I’ve been on the waiting list for a family doctor for a couple years now, and the food prices have skyrocketed, but is now worse compared to a living wage. Hoping to move back in a couple years as too many people have decided to move here who don’t bring skills for needed jobs like in healthcare or engineering. Very much my own thoughts but just like to let others in ON know some of the harsh realities.
