Maybe because she doesn't want the cat in all the house, to destroy furniture and whatever.

I'm surprised they went with the walk up. It definitely had more space and that bathroom was opulent but it seemed that the first choice would have been a better option since it was under budget and had more features they were looking for. They made the right choice for them and the cat seems happy. She's 19 and probably doesn't want her own room anyway.

Yep...have to agree with everyone else on here. They chose the worst house of the three! So much for her spread sheet. Hope this isn't a preview of her business acumen!

Seriously, most pets adapt to whatever you give them as long as they have familiar smells and their people. I've moved house 11 times and the only concern I ever had regarding our 3 cats was if the house was located on a quiet street. As for the rest, the cats didn't seem to give a damn & they settled in quickly and ruled the neighbourhood. And stole whole roasts from other people's kitchens & brought them home. Oops!😀 And seriously, how long would you spend staring out of the window in your bathroom? Him: "Hey, honey. I'm just going to go look out the bathroom window if you need me." Her: "How long will you be?" Him: "Oh, about forty-five minutes." Her: "Oh, okay. Have fun with that." Him: "Call me when dinner's ready." Not a conversation that will ever happen!!!!!!

They don't know what they want would have gone with option 1

I like house 1 the best but I'm guessing location played a big part in their decision.

I can understand if the cat is very loud (and Siamese are always meowing). However, her need for Christmas tree areas was stupider. People only have Christmas trees up for a month or so.

They're ridiculous! Worrying about a space for a 19 yr old cat?? & Christmas tree windows ?

The first one was my favorite. I would have gone for that one.

We seem to forget 100yrs ago people were a different size and height and they were not concerned with large kitchens bathrooms or closets

Exactly but for that house to be updated like that yet built in 1924 was spectacular. It was unique, and spacious with great views.

I loved her spreadsheet idea! That would so be me! Hahaha! (I agree with everyone, though, it should have been apt #1!)

I did that - useful but not the whole story. How a house feels is more complex than that.

The first and third houses were better.

house 3: how can they sell that closet/pantry as a 3rd bedrom if there's no window; in Germany (where I'm from), there has to be a certain amount of windows/window size for a room to be considered a room and not just a closet (dependent on the size of the room). Also, there's no point in needing a picture window/ Christmas tree window if it's on any other floor than the ground floor (street-ish level), since people can't see what's behind it anyway if it's any further up

I work at the urban planning division of a city in the province of Quebec. My job is to issue building permits. I would never issue a permit with plans that have that little window-less room as a bedroom. Having a window in a bedroom is mandatory in Canada and it needs to be big enough to give off a minimum of sunlight. There are also ventilation issues and for smaller buildings that don't have a sprinkler system, you need to be able to escape through your window in case there is a fire in your house and no way to go out the door.

Walk up is the way to go in Chicago. Anything with an elevator and air condition units in the windows is a no. Special assessments for when the elevator goes down and it will. Spending that kind of money with no central heat and air is a no.

Thanks for that. I love the program but I know it doesn't cover every factor - and it can't in the time ... Interesting though to know what some of those other factors are. For an other episode, someone pointed out that the seemingly most attractive house didn't have heating or a/c .... and would be very expensive to install - not off street parking.

What they fail to mention on the show is the monthly HOA/maintenance fees on that first condo is well over 1K a month. I would've personally gone for the Wicker Park loft out of the three choices.

The kitchen in house #1 is way bigger than mine and she says no room enough for cabinets? How many cook appliances she wants to keep in the kitchen?

This episode is subtitled "First World Problems" ... Basing your home purchase on a separate bedroom for a cat and enough windows to show off multiple Christmas trees 🙄🙄 Oh, and a toilet with a view!! I loved how the realtor mocked her reaction to the "world's smallest bin" in the second house 🤣

What should have gone in the trash is the sheet she made. It stank. Clearly everything decided against it.

Even though the first house was the nicest inside, their choice was in the best area of Chicago.

I hate when you scroll in the comments and they say WHICH house they picked! Spoiler Alert! Now I don't want to watch it...😠

I don’t really think the cat should have its own room, and why didn’t they choose house 1?! Also the cat doesn’t even need a large room if they’re going to give her one.

I like the Loft look!!! My cat stays with me in my room. I wouldn't want a separate room for my cat. I hate the spreadsheet!!!

#1 was clearly the best choice. Although, the neighborhood wasn't the best choice. Safety wise...

My 26 year old daughter lived in Edgewater for 3 years and never felt unsafe. She moved to Rogers Park last year which is more iffy but she's in a good part of Rogers Park.

People just don't know what to do with so much money, they are more worried about the stupid cat, give it away, when is so many people that will be happy with a little place to live .

I like the house they chose. I am not a fan of the high rise. I like the Lake Michigan view but that about it.

I don't think my parents mentioned or cared that much of my space as this lady did for a cat :/

I find the list unrealistic 🤔 like a room for the cat (I love cats but mine don’t have a room), a window in the bathroom (the reason is: would feel like home...????), a window to put the tree in front of it... okay... it’s their first house it doesn’t need to be perfect.
