He's staying with a friend and the tortie is with us. Our fat tabby is still MIA. I miss Jack something fierce, he was my cat and sitting on my lap when I noticed the fire.

    Wow. These guys are actually running. The engineer did a great job. They did what they were suppose to do. Put water on the fire. Not walk around the house 10 times before the first hose line is pulled. They got there....put water on the fire right away....and Then did their assessment. And Continued fighting the fire. That saved the house. Now it can be rebuilt without having to tear it down and start over. I have to hand it to these firefighters. Some of the best I have seen in a long while.

    "These guys are actually running" -I only saw one person run, and there was no need for him to do so "They did what they were suppose to do. Put water on the fire. Not walk around the house 10 times before the first hose line is pulled" -Show a single video in all of YT history where that has happened "They got there....put water on the fire right away" -False... The first things they did were to stretch a line and begin to force entry "Then did their assessment" -False... The first thing the 1st-in officer did was initiate a 360 "Now it can be rebuilt without having to tear it down and start over" -Just like the vast majority of residential structure fires in the U.S. -In fact, ~80% of such fires are contained to the room of origin -Of those that aren't, ~80% are contained to one adjacent room/hall

    @hihfty

    Жыл бұрын

    Metal clad roofs are generally a no go if there is fire conditions under them. Problem being is under high heat conditions they can warp quickly but still sounds solid while sounding a roof. But this roof most likely has a layer of plywood under the metal sheathing that allows stability for a traditional cut.

  • @mareinnashaw6134

    @@hihfty the previous owner screwed us on the roofing that needed done when we bought the house. Contract to fix the roof, it was done directly over an existing wood roof. The firefighters had to cut through two different roofs which stalled them. Terry Emerant.. real estate tycoon is a literal slum lord and owns a Ton of real estate in the area. He cuts every corner, even to the point of being constantly sued and fined for environmental violations and he simply pays it and keeps going. He changes nothing. This roof is one of his decisions to cut corners and it stalled the firefighters in saving our home. Thankfully these firefighters were amazing and did a great job. They showed up super quick too, their station was right down the street so... lucky in that regard.

    @@SpamchuckersCastle we smelled something but didn't investigate. What we believe it was was my mother's space heater on the back deck had something get too close to it and it caught fire. I thought I heard the cat getting into plastic trash on the kitchen table. I was nested with 2 cats in the living room and didn't want to get up. But when the "cat" didn't stop, I got up and saw the fire already head height on the back porch, which had an awning and the fire came right in to the crawl space under the roof and into the kitchen (probably faster cause I left the sliding glass door open when I tried throwing water on the fire didn't work) I have ptsd from this... I discovered the fire and fell twice from the spilled water. Warned Ron and mom and then called 911. I've always fantasized about running and grabbing the important things in times like this. I grabbed nothing. Thought about it but then thought about the cats and before I could do anything a state trooper that saw the fire driving up 205 stopped and jumped the fence to help and pulled me from the front doorway. I had literally nothing but a robe on and keys were within arms reach.. my computer was 2 steps in... my guitar, My artwork.. all right there. Nothing. I was screaming my head off because of the cats... and 2 of the 3 made it. 1 is mia. What I learned... you have no idea how well you'll respond until you faced with it. Dealing with panic, I'm proud I was able to focus, take a breath and dial 911. My partner was out getting Macdonald and came back to their house on fire. All around 0/10, would not recommend a house fire. And yea, most things burned. Office and kids bedroom (kids were at their fathers) were ok. The ceilings were gutted to get at the fire and the kitchen is absolutely destroyed. Living too but there was a fire line at about waist height. No need for a truck company to be placed in the front of a 1 story residential. Does appear to be a modified 1 story with like a half basement type deal. Still no need. They did great, truck company still had ladders thrown and vented the roof.

    Somewhat agree, but realistically the aerial would not have contributed anything in this situation, especially with a department that is this pro-active about ground ladders. (I've read some of their SOPs and they're really squared away)

    In your opinion. Not every dept follows the exact same operating manual as you and that's ok. As long as everyone comes home at the end of the day in one piece with a pulse and they did their best to save as much life and property as possible shouldn't that be all that our priority as firefighters be? Why drag another dept because they don't follow *your* SOP?

    2:40 Wheels stopped. 3:18 Line charged on tank water. Thats 38 seconds!!!! Thats how you do it USA! A firefighter could have pulled a line to the rear of the building and water could be flowing on the fire in that time. 3:30 The smoke out the front appears to be turning white. Thats pretty fast water for the USA! They will go in my Firefighting Good playlist! But still, they can't help themselves! 8:45 NOOOOOOO! You vent the windows! You do NOT go on the roof of a burning building. When you vent the roof, you introduce the fire to the structure and the house just burns better. If you think the fire might have gotten into the attic, you pull a small area of ceiling and take a look. If it's in there, just fog the attic and open the ceiling more. Now the owner as a damaged metal roof to deal with. VVing is unnecessary danger that accomplishes nothing. Just like you saw here.

    I have never seen so many full of c*** comments from you know-it-all keyboard fire chiefs. Every fire could be done a little different it appears these guys that a pretty decent job. I would love the critique what your fire department does I'm sure I could really tear at a part.

    Really, Vertical Ventilation is a great tool, apparently the IC could see something that video cant, and felt it needed to be done. We Vertical Vent allot and it pulls Heat and Smoke away from the engine guys making the push on the Fire and allows for quicker Search for Victims with improved Smoke and Heat Conditions. Its up to the IC at the Fire and not KZread Chiefs.

    Don’t bother with JB. He’s never been lucky enough to experience well timed and properly placed vertical ventilation. A hole over the fire steps horizontal spread and Improves conditions. NIOSH, IFSTA and NFPA has shown this time and time again but this internet troll has nothing better to do then think he’s gods gift to firefighting.

    2 engines first due but nobody brought in a water supply line. Then they failed to leave room in front for the ladder truck. Both of which are standard practices for most departments in the US.
