    Great video. Aluminum tanks for flammables. Steel for combustibles. The tanks for flammables have baffles that reduce the movement of the fuel which over time can cause fatigue at the welds.

    yep, i run a small 12 volt diesel pump from OReilys auto on my tank. I have a valve like his then to a small strainer/filter then to the pump that pushes it to my tank. I get to a 1/4 tank and hit the toggle switch in my cab and it fills as i drive. One thing i would do different though, i would NOT use the springs to hold the tank down !!! I DO NOT want my tank rocking and moving around, i want it solid as a rock !

    Hi Rene. Not sure of your name spelling so sorry if I got it wrong. I’m new to the hotshot business and am in process of getting my own authority as well as renewing my expired cdl from 2012. My family is a huge supporter of my venture and my dad and I have been enjoying all your videos amongst other hotshot you tubers both gen freight and auto transport. You definitely seem very knowledgeable and I have learned a lot from your videos Could I get your preferred email for future questions ? I was having a 3 car enclosed built in Georgia won’t mention who but with deposit and it was sold out from under us so now considering a sundowner 3 car enclosed per watching your recommendations. Any ways would like to talk with you more. But for now going to run general freight with f550 air ride with 35’ 16gvwr gator flatbed because of what I currently own. Would definitely like to talk with you at some point soon. Thanks and drive safe out there.

    That foam tape you're using is not good for what you want. It is cheap and not made for that much weight. What happens to it is it is so weak of a foam, the weight of the tank and gas will flatten it so flat that it will be like just sticking some electrical tape down on the bed. You need to use rubber...like a tire tube type rubber. If you use rubber under the tank you won't need any springs on the mounting bolts. BTW the springs you used are way too weak and small. That tank is going to weigh 6lbs per gallon...do the math. Plus I suggest you install a ground from the steel bed to the tank or make sure the bolts will act as your ground. IMO the way you setup your fuel transfer using a petcock is dangerous because if you forget to shut it off, you'll have fuel pouring out your filler vent/cap.

  • @ralfie8801

    @ralfie8801

    It’s diesel fuel, not gasoline. You darn near need to hold a lit torch in the stuff and get it hot before it’ll burn. Fire isn’t really an issue unless the fuel is hot, as in its been run through the injection pump and returned to the tank hot, which can’t happen in his case because he’s gravity feeding the fuel from the big tank into the stock tank where the return line from the engine circulates the hot fuel to.

    Or put the neoprene on the bottom of the tank this way you keep adhesive off the bed and its not a btch to clean when you take the tank off to repaint or repair the bed.

    Those small springs on the small bolts are not a good idea. You'd be much better off building that thing tight without the springs. Those bolts also look pretty small (1/4 or 5/16?). I'd be using at least 3/8 bolts, maybe 1/2-in. The brackets that secure my 100 and 150 gallon tanks on my semi use six 5/8 bolts on each of the 2-3 vertical brackets on each tank, so using three 3/8" bolts to secure it through the deck certainly would not be overkill.
