This is a Hotpoint WM25 Aquarius 1000 De Luxe, and were part of the short lived “New Aquarius Wash System” range sold between 1996 and 1997. This was the last facelift of the WM10/20/30 machines before the WM60s were introduced in 1997. In my opinion this series are the best timer controlled machines Hotpoint made. They are a lot more refined in speed control, have out of balance detection, and also wash and rinse very well. I much prefer the programming of the WM20s to the late WM60s especially when it comes to rinsing and spinning.
This particular model is special to me as it is a childhood machine, my grandparents got one of these in 1996 to replace their A3060, and I spent many hours of my childhood sat in front of it. I acquired this machine recently from a friend and fellow collector of mine. The drain pump and suspension need replacing (I did retrieve some coins from the sump which has made it quieter, but it still rattles) which I plan on doing soon once the parts have arrived.
On this video I am doing a maiden wash of whites on a 60°C colourfast cottons wash, after I had cleaned out the pump and run it through an empty boilwash. There was a weird glitch on the timer on this particular load whilst filling for rinse 3 (it didn’t activate the timer once the level had reached). It hasnt happened since so fingers crossed it was a one off.
Please excuse the vibration of the tripod whilst the machine is spinning - the kitchen has a suspended floor and the vibration from the machine caused the tripod to vibrate too!
