Hi, Had my Electra twin tub rebadged Hotpoint for 45+ years & still use once a week & no where near as much faffing about as in the video. Very efficient machine for 2 peoples clothe washing.A week washing washed & spin dried in less time than this video.

Fantastic twin tub videos Dorian I have always been fascinated by twin tub washers gladly subscribed to your channel as a child in the 70s I could sit in front of a twin tub for hours and be fascinated by them fantastic videos ❤ so informative and interesting 👍🍺🍺 keep them coming the videos raising a glass of beer to you my fascination with twin tub washers he he I could share a few beers with you all night and talk about twin tub washers 😊

I enjoy using these a few times a year, nice sunny days, but y I g to do this as my only machine, wow, my hats go off to all those mums and people using them in the past.

Nicely done Dorian 👏👏 Although these machines were labour intensive, people often did the traditional Monday weekly wash job done, and the super fast 3100 rpm spin speed meant things were quickly dried, which meant any respectable woman then set about the ironing , which probably included sheets, pants , in fact just about everything!😂Not sure I’d want to go back to those days, think we’re a whole lot cleaner, we change our clothes more often now ! Thank goodness 😓Large capacity washers and tumble dryers make laundry sooooo easy, and keeps ironing to a minimum!

Andrew Atkinson That’s so very true, I can get a weeks worth of laundry done in a day, tumble dry ironed and back in the wardrobe by sundown

love your twin tub videos, going back and watch them again and again. I think you would love hoover deluxe and servis twin tubs even more

I've never cared fo GE machines. My grandfather had a FilterFlo and it always stretched my knits. I however do miss washers with the donut lint filter. Mom's Norge had one and it was very effective.

Hi Bruce 😘😘😘😘😘. I don’t know how people used these as their main washer as you still have to be near it frequently to do all the laundry. Guess we don’t know how lucky we are these days when you see these types of washing machines again. It is fun to use though.

When I consider that my grandmother scrubbed every inch of her family's laundry with a scrubboard and bucket until the end of the depression, I'd say that we don't actually do laundry. We place our laundry in a hole, move it to another hole an hour or so later and then we Fold laundry. Yes we are fortunate indeed!

Tienes una super lavadora muy buenas por siento pero hay un detalle la sobrepasas de agua por eso te sucede eso hay que checar para cuantos kilos es y cuanta agua hay que ponerle se ve muy llena de agua

I am a retired service engineer for Hotpoint and I have worked on the Hotpoint Twin Tubs, I have noticed the Spinner is rarther slow to pick up speed, you need to fit new clutch shoes its not a easy job but you will notice the difference once it has been done, I don't know if the parts are still available now as it is a very old machine

This was as noisy as a Boeing on spin, but I put new belts, oiled the mechanism and now it’s quiet, I will keep using it because last year by the end it was like new, but after being in storage it is starting like it was, but the slow down is rather slow, so yes, it probably need a new clutch and brake. 🤗

couldn't be easier to fit new clutch dogs . just whip the nut off pull the bottom bit off then the clutch pully .Old one off new ones on put it back together job done

Hi there, I would suggest you replace the upper shaft bearing looking at the excessive lateral movement of the agitator and CERTAINLY the clutch shoes on the spin drier. This should rapidly gain speed once water is not fouling the cannister. Great post tho.

Ah, it’s down with the Laundry Centre now, he’s gonna fix it, but thanks for the info mate, I have another one now.

wet down already spinned clothes and spin again wet down spin again. Done rinsing unless you need fabric softner.

I traveled 4 hours round trip to buy one of these , I looked on eBay for a couple of years before I found one. It works fine but I can't get a pipe to go in the back to auto rinse. I also need new belts.

Oh cool! So glad you got one. You should find the belts or ones similar that will fit. I use some hose or the extendable shower tap head. 🤗

My grandmother had the Hoovermatic version in the 60's and I can't believe the faff of washing-day as it was. I've heard rumour that the UK manufacturers (sorry 'Great Britain' as it says on the label) had tooled up for twin tubs and deliberately delayed the introduction of automatics, although I'm not sure if that's true. The rinsing process was generally appalling and with all of the allergies folk suffer these days I suspect that there'd be law suits galore against the manufacturers!

UK is fine, just, for now, until it become the United States of England 😂😂😍😍. I was fascinated by my nans neighbor, Aunty Glenys, as she used a twin tub and would help and watch and chat as she did her laundry. My nan and mum had automatics, so for this was fascinating 😂😂😂

Surf Gems, did you account for the size of portable washer versus regular machine? That's why you had the foam. Next time start with half of the amount.

That’s so true, it’s hard using many modern detergents in these now. Forget pods, they are a nightmare in it.

is there an inlet to fill the tub with water or do you have to fill it directly into the tub the way you cleaned it out

You have to fill it manually either by that hose or buckets.

Adding a liquid fabric softener/conditioner will reduce the suds level in a washer...

When I sold these machines nearly 40 years ago, I suggested to customers it was more efficient rinsing in the wash tub

@@HooverLux thanks for letting me know my nana used to have one infact i think it was that one if im not mistaken as she only had a very very small kitchen the size of a small shed and she used it in the bathroom beside the kitchen, and my mum also had one she thought she was the bees knees of her street at the time for owning one Id love to get one myself to try it out looked everywhere and nowhere to be seen😥

You’re absolutely welcome 🥰. They do come up sometimes on eBay etc, but most are in need of serious repairs. I hope you get one in the future as they are fun to use, but having to wash a family’s weekly wash and bedding etc etc, I think I’d go crazy.
