Sweet demo as always! Just picked one of these up for myself cant wait to try out some tones! Thanks for the demo!
Once again we see the great range and talent of Bea, fantastic video man!
That PRS is absolutely stunning. Solid review!!!
Cool pedal and a good rundown of it, thanks for the video. And great playin' as well!
Rebea - love the pedal review mate, great playing as always! Like the little ‘’Waiting room music’’ too, nice little touch there Cheers
Thanks for putting your spin on it. Thanks Bea.
been looking forward to getting this pedal
Thanks for your revision. It's really interensting for me and thanks to you I'll but it as soon ad possible!
Wicked bro, keep doing this amazing job ;) Cheers!
MAN you are an awesome guitarist \m/
I bought two a little while ago and played around but left them off my board. Decided to try out some new patches and discovered the Dallas Rangemaster patch, OMG. This thing rocks! Using the Twin Reverb sim after my ODs and could not be happier.
Very impressive pedal Rabea :) the flexibility is just insane!!! Fantastic playing as usual also dude! :)

Thanks man, really appreciate that. I love trying to play to the effects, let them set the vibe as opposed to playing one style.

+Rabea Massaad that's so interesting that you said that as I had this exact same conversation with a good friend of mine a few days ago! 😃 it's about surrendering yourself to the tone and letting it take you to where it wants - that's when the real magic happens 😃 have a great weekend dude!

Really really cool sounds, the first two pedals sound like they would be great for some AC/DC
I could legitimately listen to Rabea mess around with effects for hours especially the bit crusher
i think it shines in the time based effects and modulation. the drives sound digital to me. it could be a great pedal to have in your kit when you show up to a jam and are just not sure what you need.
Neil Zaza recently did a recording of one of his songs on these. They sound freakin amazing.
impressive pedal ...and great review ;-)
Best demo of this that I've seen yet. Seems like a cool little Swiss Army Knife pedal, but they lost me at "Bluetooth only". When they stop supporting it, all it takes is for Google or Apple to update the OS on your phone (or you have to get a new one after an OS shift), and the app no longer works so you're stuck with a choice of keeping it at its current setting or buying a mobile device specifically to use with this pedal (slightly tail-wagging-dog, that). Compare that with something like the Zoom MS70CDR (or MS50G) which has all the models already loaded and you can change them using the (admittedly slightly cumbersome) interface built into the pedal. Sure, they don't have the buffered/true bypass function, but they're *extremely* high-quality in terms of tones and - more importantly - will still work exactly the same in 5 or 6 years' time while costing half the price. They're also true multi-effects units, so you can add and remove effects at any point in the chain if you want.
awesome!
Loved the Jazzy "Waiting to Load" music! I've got the Bad Monkey and it sounds pretty close. I see there are a few "chain" Fx setups which I think would be handy. when you stated that using an Amp sim would not sound good thru a real amp-are the amp sims more for direct rec or PA type application?
Hey Rabea! I love your videos and I listen to Dorje and Toska regularly. You guys amaze me every time. I have an idea for a video. How about you play a Game of SKATE, but instead of shredding on skateboards, you shred the sickest lick or riff and Rob or Lee try to play it after you. If they get it wrong, they get a letter. First to get to the E loses. However "skate" isn't really a guitary word, so maybe go with "guitar" or "riffs" or something? It'd be awesome if you guys'd think about it. Cheers!
Super sick... turned both of my guitarists onto this. love the ambient playing! You definitely need to release some ambient/space rock tracks... like Failure meets Pink Floyd... for the fans!!!
that opeth riff gave me a feel face for 3 seconds. great video!
just fucking delicious playing!
Great technology- I have an iStomp, which is pretty fun for what it is but of course the Hotone is more advanced. I'd hope that the next version of this, or the next company to do it, would think to put little LCD displays below the knobs (or on top of the knobs) that would change indicators when you load a pedal. So for example loading a delay might change the indicators to L (level), S (speed), R (Repeats), T (tone), while loading a distortion would change the knobs to read G (gain), L (level), B (bass) M (mids), T (treble). Otherwise it's kind of a pain to try to remember which knob correspond to what on a given pedal model- at least that's been my experience with the iStomp, particularly if you come back the next day to use a pedal you loaded the day before. But man, what cool technology!
does it have the Miku?

Hey Rabea!!!Thanks for the demo.I am a big fan of dorje..Could you please give a guitar lesson on catalyst?
Man when you started playing Mario you got me good haha, weirdly good marketing point!
Liked the wee bit of Master's Apprentices at about 7:30 ish. \m/
Nice. Like amplifi but for pedals
It only 30-40 seconds the first time you load an effect or "patch" after that it will load really fast.
I had to see what popped up on the screen at 11:22. Took a minute to stop it on it, nice picture of a video game. haha
Its possible add: Clean Cab Sim, Reverb, Chorus and Noise Gate in one pedal and connect it to line [ to concert]: guitar - cabel - Hotone XTOMP Pedal - cabel - miexer concert
Ur demos are great
Nice video Rabea! I have a doubt. If i turn off my phone the pedal still working like a normal pedal with the preset saved?
i was just pleased with Waiting music XD wanna find out what chords was used for it?
Hello friend maybe you are the only one who has tried the Xtomp, and the pedals Zoom 70CDR and MS100Bt, I want your true opinion, I already have an armed pedalboard, I only need modulations at times and maybe a decent amp simulator, which is the best option of these 3, the price does not matter, since the Xtomp is at 150 USD new, today.
That's a pretty fun little pedal, actually. I normally don't like that type of stuff, but this is one seems like really great fun. Price-wise though, and given my situation for matter of example, for it's price - I'd rather grab me a 2nd-hand backup workhorse guitar, maybe another Korean\Indonesian RG.
I see the usefulness of being able to swap out a tone print in a pedal. But I think that the design has severely muted the pedals potential. I think that the "box" should have been 5 switches (boxes) rather than 1, with an expression pedal. That would allow someone to patch in 5 different stomps and basically have a complete usable pedal board with swappable tone patches. The expression pedal could be assigned a wah sound, a delay or mod effect, or be assigned to control volume. ...and THAT is what this product should be. The one pedal at a time approach is very limited when comparing it to potential alternatives. Hey, thanks Mr Rabea for the cool vids!
Do you have to load the app every time you go to play, or does the pedal remember the last preset assigned to it?
WAIT I NOTICED SOMETHING, AT THE END OF THE PLAYING PART WITH THE BAD MONKEY IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS LOADING AGAIN OR SOMETHING, WILL THE PEDAL LOOSE CONNECTION WHILE YOUR PLAYING IT? IF IT DOES THATS A DEAL BREAKER, I DONT WANT TO BE USING IT AND ALL THE SUDDEN CUT OUT CAUSE IT HAS TO LOAD AGAIN
Can you build chains inside this unit?
Wow man! you played some funky stuff! I would be glad if you could do a lesson on that! ;) thanks anyway!
And .for metal stuff ..is it good ?
I like ur demos
Is it worth getting though
It's good, but for the price you could get a used Line 6 POD HD, with all the effects you could want, amp modelling, tap tempo, and preset saving.
If I want to run 2 or 3 hotone pedals to use different effects at the same time, how it is possible if I only have one phone?
@EshockT

You load up one at a time. No problemo
Very cool pedal. But with all these pedals with remote gui's I'm asking myself: "how long will this company support the software?" If the software goes unsupported (say, in 8 years from now), does that render the pedal unusable? Despite all its shortcomings, at least Midi is an open standard that is software independent. These iOS specific apps might become outdated or unsupported quicker than we suspect. Also pedal manufacturers can make promises about support, but unless they open source the software we have no guarantee that the software remains usable in the long run. Also, kudos for the Doom 3d theme

This is the same issue that I have. Phone manufacturers have clearly demonstrated that products in their market quickly lose support and become near useless, and that ethic is turning me off other digitally controlled products since they rely on said phone hardware. I hope that manufacturers like Hotone can prove me wrong.

+Jokrono if you buy a pedal like this, nobody's expecting support to last eternally. But at least you want it to retain some value at the end of its lifespan. To my mind, this is a fundamental problem with pedals like these. Open sourcing the interface software and Bluetooth implementation would alleviate some concerns.
@DomSchu

Exactly my thought. I work as an app developer and know if these companies decided to discontinue support on these products the software would be too dated to use in about a year.

If they made the code open source and allowed people to home brew their own effects this thing would be awesome. Then it might last long past any company support ending.

11:22 retro bitcrushed doom :)
I do like the idea and it sounds great, but will you still have access to there app say in 10 years. What if noone buys it and they decide to scrap the whole thing. Eventually the app will be unsuprted through a firmware update and your Screwed. There needs to be a seperate software thats independant of the app where you can at least store all your pedals and can load them via usb manually and will still be a useable pedal.
Any loop settings
i see crazy ass sounds in the next toska album
SINCE WHEN DID YOU START DOING DEMO'S?
This pedal makes sense for me, except that i don't have any smart phones or ipads.

I mean if you wanted to spend 20 minutes and preload all the stuff onto it, I don't see why not. But.. that toggle button man, I'm weary that would survive being beaten about the way a standard latching pedal switch would. Also for the same reason, it looks non-standard, not easy to replace if it does get battered to the point that it stops working. Unless I'm wrong and there's a standard latching switch hidden under there. Dunno, I'd like to see more brutal honesty on this thing really. Can't find any video reviews of people saying anything in particular about it sucks, I know these pedal videos are often reviews, but I feel like the manufacturers could use some advice on how to improve a product from the players too. Are they looking for an advert or are they looking for help? Seems more like a home use or studio tool for recording, something to take to a jam, maybe something to keep in the gigbag for when you're bored. Those uses don't really warrant 180 of our weakened monetary units, at least for me.
