Hotel Tour : Budget Inn San Francisco CA

(8-16-2014) For 75$ after taxes this was not bad at all. Hotels like this are NOT for everyone. You have very basic amenities. No private bathroom or shower. No Air Conditioning but for one night in a very expensive city, I found this a great value and it made for a great tour. Staff here was VERY friendly and the room was clean.

I would stay at a hotel as long as it has an elevator or elevators for me to ride. And of course the hotel has to have an indoor pool and hot tub or I will not stay in it. The only way you can get me to stay in a hotel is finding one with an indoor pool and hot tub and an elevator or elevators.

$75? I would've paid another $75 for a decent sized room and a bathroom. It looked very dirty and sketchy, I know everything is more pricey in big cities, but my friend and I stayed downtown Chicago at Hilton for $115/night and it was a luxury hotel with a city view. I can't imagine having to go to the bathroom at 3am and walk down that hallway hoping someone else isn't already in there, not to mention if someone is in there showering. Just awkward.... It looked more like a cheap hostel than a hotel.

I personally like twinn perks in hotel it’s 100$ a night but it’s on market almost in the Castro. I felt safe there. The open windows in bathroom are to help prevent mold from water soaking into the walls.

Guys, don't expect a building built in th 1800s to be this good. Hotels were probably this different. No swimming pools, tiny rooms, non-private bathrooms, etc. But at the time when this hotel was open it was probably a great place to take a vacation on or something. Now there are more places way more nicer than this. It has since aged very well indeed. But when it was closed permanently then homeless people live here.

Would you take a date here? No. But if you're on a budget & not spending much time there anyway... Frankly, I'm grateful for these properties... as long as they're CLEAN... and this one definitely is.

Nice for an older urban motel, but it sure is strange that there's no elevator, and also having to go up stairs to go in, which defies ADA compliance. But the call bell at the entrance sounds amazingly like the new CE Electronics elevator bells used on newer EPCO and Innovation fixtures.

this used to be the national hotel located on 1139 market street in san francisco i know this building very well i stayed there in 1989 at that time it was safe, as it used to be all gay and lesbian place at that time too one floor was gay another floor up above was straight people and now its gone, i heard recently this hotel that is now a inn was bad place may be run by a mafia of SF with drugs and stuff going on there, and that its dangerous and i read a post comments on here where he said he was a college kid broke and came to SF and got a room here, he said he heard someone next door saying look at money he got for a bike he stole and lets go buy crystal (drugs) he didnt know what he was getting into. so i assume he split and got out of there, and never went back so yes i heard its bad very bad run by mafia person who owns it, now i dont know if this is all true or what i sure would like to see what SFPD san francisco police dept says about that place, its run by a homeless agency of some sort for what i am hearing, so i don't know too about that, but something sounded fishy and a trap of some kind, so i don't really know for sure i would advice anyone before going there is to check with city first about the area and that hotel would be san francisco police dept because they patrol the area day and night and can possibly have a record on that place of any complaints or arrests or drugs and so on they would know alot more then i would

Not for me, I would stay at a regular hotel.Room looks ok I guess but a little dirty there might be bugs. Would not feel safe here.

Um, excuse me, no air conditioning? No bathroom in the rooms? Or shower? I would believe somebody would sue the hotel in these days, or the hotel would be closed down. This is an old hotel, but it doesn't make sense to have heat when there's no air conditioning. I probably wouldn't stay at this hotel, because if I went to the gym, and was sweating hot, I would have no way to cool off. So get bathrooms in the rooms, and air conditioning, Budget Inn!

They don't even have elevators and even the "first story" of the hotel is on the second floor of the building. This hotel was a compliance fail at the start!
