HOTEL REPORT: The Lodge at Wakulla Springs (a.k.a. Secrets of the Wakulla River part 3 of 3)

For the final part of our three-part crossover mega-series, we take a closer look at the historic Lodge at Wakulla Springs. We review two rooms, #101 (the Jesse Dupont Suite) and #32. Next we take a tour of the lodge and all the amenities it has to offer. Finally we touch on what other activities there are to do in the surrounding area. Oh and we take a couple of rides on an old, art deco style Otis elevator right out of a steam punk novel.

I stayed there as a kid for a family reunion, no tv is nuts.

Haha, yeah. We didn't have our kids with us, so it was not big deal. Thanks for stopping by 😀

When we stayed there it was a group of us our room had four beds but wasn’t update with the modern fixtures, it was plain and window you cranked to open and no tv. I thought it a little spooky but it was 12 years ago.

Hahaha, I can see creepy. I think the rooms I stayed in were good, but the hallways look like they came right out of The Shining.

One of my favorite places I've ever been. I've been going there at least once a year for the past 14 years. Planning on going in a couple of weeks. It's so relaxing. Yeah, no TVs but I don't mind, I enjoy the quiet in the evening. One of the things that makes it so special in my opinion. I drive over to St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge about 10 minutes away for nature and photography. So much nature to enjoy at Wakulla Springs too. And the restaurant has excellent food! It's paradise to me. ❤️

It's a nice hotel, it's like staying at your grandmother's house. That was a cool elevator 😎 Why is there bars on the windows?

I think the bars are just decorative and original, but not 100% sure. There are no bars on any of the windows that face the front entrance/courtyard, so not sure of an utilitarian purpose. Hopefully no bears are trying to break into the second story window, hahaha.

Yes, it is one of our favorite state parks in Florida. It really is like stepping back in time when you visit.

Both the rooms are beautifully appointed and I must say I to would like the larger of the two. Love the old elevator, awesome 👏 Looks like a wonderful place to relax and unwind in. I would definitely stay in this accommodation if I was in the locality. Thumbs up 👍🏽 thank you for a wonderful tour and Merry Christmas 🎄

Yes, if you couldn't tell, the elevator was a highlight for us (I think I included three different clips of it - just couldn't help myself). Thanks for stopping by!

I just love your intro and theming through out the video. This place looks so sweet. The bars at the window always makes me think of the end of Nightmare of Elm Street. Why did you end up getting different rooms for different nights? Really enjoyed the hotel and room tour. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!

Thanks for watching. We originally were only going to stay one night, but later decided to stay two. The room we had was already booked, so we went with another room for the second night. The Lodge staff was great and made sure to clean our second room early so we wouldn't have a delay between check-out and check-in.
