Honestly, the random shop element is perfect. It's exactly how it is in real life too with them Hot Wheels. You went to the toy store, had a big tray with cars and you picked the one you liked best. You were never looking for a specific one. At least, I wasn't.

The randomness on buying cars adds to the immersion of buying actual hotwheels u'll never know what ur going to get or whats available in the shop

So on their website you can see Deora 2 and baseline are like a "dlc" if you will, with more Acceleracers and Highway 35 to come I'm sure. They've put several Acceleracers cars into infinite loop so it wouldn't surprise me if they do it here too

If only, that's the one pseudo battle royal I actually like particularly the darker toned Twisted Metal Black I recently 100% a few months ago.

I still own a bucket full of Hot wheels and matchbox cars in my closet lmao can't wait to try this game

An Acceleracers dlc will come for sure, either way for sure the distance acceleracers community will make a lot of custom content for this game

I’m 36 I bought this game for my 5 year old son and 18 year old brother. They both had the same reaction on Xmas. I’ve been on it more than my son 😂

I'm 42 and this game is the shit. I recommend it for any age.

Am I the only one finding lootoxes (when done fairly) more exciting than standard store scroll and purchase option? Just for the sake of randomness. It adds more to just scrolling and buying only the ones you care about. Which, in most cases, is just 5 to 10 cars out of, like, a hundred (idk, just a number)

I agree. I like the randomness in a game like this, where you gotta earn those rare cars to unlock. As long as microtransactions stay out of this game, I'm liking this system for unlocking vehicles. I can't wait to get it!

The walmart here always had a big bin full of hotwheels my dad and i would sift through when i was a kid. I kinda wish instead of the lootbox animation they had a big hotwheel bin full of a couple thousand cars that one comes out of. And that when you grabbed a car it may show it coming out of one of those big clear hotwheel cases you'd store them in if you opened them.

Im so blown away that another hotwheels game is out. And with custom courses. I already got some ideas for some cars

The fact that it's like Trackmania with Hot Wheels already gets my attention. But I think I'll save this one for Christmas to make the wait feel more exciting.

Micro Machines is waiting for someone to do this!!! Micro Machines is also about collecting and building up collections if I remember correctly you had sets or mini cities you could build with the toys!! And this is all different to the actual popular Micro Machines computer games which introduced “Chen” “Spider” lol and the Mario Kart weapons!!!! I’ve never been into the Hotwheels games but this is the game that has done it right in terms of the look of toys and the slickness and I hope complete arcade racing experience…. Definitely on my radar and I’m a GT guy usually…. If someone can revive the MM franchise in a similar way with all the car collecting etc as well as the multiplayer madness of the 90’s games then they’ve got a hit! I can already hear execs scrambling to do this! But I fear because codies used to make this game are now apart of EA… EA are rubbing their hands with dollar mxt signs in their eyes!! If Milestone can also or someone similar can get the MM license even better! But no doubt someone will inadvertently get greedy and just mess it up

I was a bit burnt out after a few hours of playing the Hot Wheels dlc on Forza Horizon 3, despite it looking fantastic. This game gives me similar vibes. It's the fact that you are literally on rails, bouncing back and forth between the ever-present barriers.

Already pre ordered can't wait to play with my 7 years old son!

Game looks great, I just worry about it getting boring quickly, not much to it.

I think my major three complaints with Hot Wheels Unleashed are: 1. The lack of audio options. More specifically, the lack of SFX volume control. I love the in-game soundtrack. It encapsulates the high-octane energy Hot Wheels is known for. Too bad I can't hear it over the sounds of engines revving and tires screeching. 2. The amount of content locked behind paywalls. I never liked microtransactions, either. The expansions to the main mode of the game makes sense, at least. But the track pieces, other cars, and such are my major gripe. And "Racing Passes", Milestone? Seriously? This is a $50 game normally (I'm going by Steam price)and seeing these microtransactions is disgusting. 3. No cross-play. What if I want to race my stepdad on his PS4? What if I want to race more players that are on other platforms? I hate to reference Fortnite, since I can't stand that game, but it's big selling point is the cross-play. Anyone on PC can play with folks on PlayStation or Xbox or even the Switch. Cross-play, I think, makes perfect sense for a game like this. Unify all the player bases with a cross-play system. Those aside, Hot Wheels Unleashed is a great game and I'd highly recommend it to anybody who's a fan of arcade style racing games or Hot Wheels in general.

As an adult PC gamer of many years I purchased this 2 days ago. What a blast !. It is so much fun. I did read the critique about pricing and possible loot boxes. But at the moment it is in game currency. Is this game pricey ?. To a point yes, £54 for the collectors edition is very expensive. But you do get a lot of game for your pound/dollar. Car selection, liveries, editor and backgrounds all add up to an enjoyable experience. However my first gripe is no Ultrawide monitor support.!!. You can select 3440x1440, but it defaults to 16.9 instead of 21.9. But I did see some information online that the developers will be addressing this in the future hopefully . This game is not ! so easy at first. My noob ! brain kicked in at the beginning lol !, when I first started the game. I went through the tutorial etc, then started the race with my first basic car. Got confused as to why there are 2 accelerator buttons to use ? On my Xbox controller I use on my PC that would be RT and B buttons. I just used the B button as it was close to the boost button and ignored RT. Anyway I began to accelerate my car but found it seemed to only travel at a lowly speed seemingly like 50mph. All the other AI cars in the race were miles ahead of me. Then it dawned on me lol !, this is not a Formula 1 racing game. You have to accelerate, then boost, then accelerate, then boost continuously throughout the race to advance your car. You cannot just accelerate then just use your boost occasionally. It’s a combination of both continuously !!. Then you have to mange your slides into the corners, and jumping !. So all in all it took me a few hours to win the first AI race on just the first track in the “ quick race “ selection. This game is so addictive !, fun, and frustrating all at the same time. At the beginning I thought my controller wasn’t working, why was my car traveling so slow in this first race ?. Yup you really need to practice this constant combination of boost and accelerate. So if you think this is a normal racing sim, no ! It’s not. What you get is an unbelievable and fun HotWheels game that will bring back the child in you. But it will take literally hours of practice !. I highly recommend this game. The developers have done an excellent job. Put aside the negativity you will see on some criticism. It’s a lot of fun. Please, please developers can you patch it for UltraWide monitors !?.

Very much like it, in that the cars and environment stick to 64 scale (as Revolt kept to roughly 16 and 12 scale). The exterior camera is actually oddly good. It actually does make early jumps difficult to master. And honestly I never even noticed the point raised about the music speeding up when you're boosting. Your focus tends to stick to hitting your marks. There are 2 tracks I've encountered in the game where the Unleashed time goal seems nearly impossible (and I ended up with one of the best cars in the game as my first unlock). So, there are shortcuts to be learned, it seems. As arcade-y as the game is by nature, the physics DO demand some skill. I'm a simulation person and this is the first arcade racing title i've actually liked in the past 8 years.

My only genuine criticisms of this game is in regards to its creation modes, although I feel that all of these problems will be fixed in later updates as they are pretty obvious issues and the developers even said they are interested in adding more customization options, so this is only talking about it at release. But anyways, my main problems with this game are the fact that there’s no way to search for creations despite having tags, car names, and user names, there’s no way to change the rim and tire types for each car in any way besides color, there’s no way to put decals on those, and there’s no way to create, share, and download specific decals made by other users as well much like Gran Turismo Sport. Honestly, if they could fix all of those problems before Christmas, then this game would be *flawless,* and have truly unlimited potential when it comes to DLC.

I guess since is a game also marketed towards kids, they'll never allow creations to be completely free to share like forza or need for speed, in order to avoid nsfw or questionable creations being downloaded by kids. There are a lot of these in forza and nfs and they never seem to be moderated for long.

I’m fairly certain that it run flawlessly to the naked eye, maybe a drop or two in really really busy custom tracks but the main game I’m pretty sure is solid.. I mean it’s coming with 4K 120fps mode, they could only achieve that if there was serious overhead in the base mode

But it happened one time and I haven’t seen it since, I give it an A in terms of performance

These reviews are superb but I think a little bit of backing music or clever use of the in-game SFX would go a really long way. Other than that, keep up the great work :)

I'm sorry maybe it's just me and I suck at racing games but I struggle getting timetrials in the time allotted. Don't get me wrong I LOVE this game but it can be frustrating .. even on the easy mode..the "ding" is what it causes me to get frustrated. Maybe I haven't got my skills down yet idk

5:30 - "You can upload your liveries to the archive for others to download if they want." "Can"? Sorry, more like "have to". The game requires you to upload EVERYTHING you make in order to use it. Custom paint job? Upload it. Custom track you've barely tested? Upload it. And on top of that, while there is an "overwrite" option, it only works for locally-saved content that you HAVEN'T uploaded yet, because everything requires a UNIQUE NAME.

Do you know if this is playable offline?

By the way, not everyone can win a race with everycar, since every car can compete in all the races; but they have different stats. So, fast go fast will always win. Hence the races for different types of cars.

Since Burnout 3: Takedown/Revenge there has not been a better and more enjoyable and fun arcade racer in years….perhaps Hot Wheels Unleashed can come close to being a great fun arcade racing game….

Fcking different,this game has abillity on their car while fh3 dont they all same,this game has more cars in cover art rather than fh3,has more customization(car,track,basement)than sh*tty horizon 3 were you can tune & tune-up,true arcade racer than horizon 3 they're fake arcade,in past they're having different concept from sandbox,racing,stunt track(trackmania just casually stole this style),combat,racing,pvp on horizon only 1 and 2 are evolution than 3,4 are same from trailer and sounding,no microtransaction even there is a lootboxes and wee dont ask about horizon 3

Wasn't horizon 3 Simcade? While I never played it I think even the HotWheels expansion drove somewhere between sim and arcade. This is full arcade driving with stunts and an extensive track editor
