Try looking for the pizza delivery video where the delivery guy steps into an elevator with the pizza, opens the box and starts picking off the toppings and eating them. The comments section is full of people feeling sorry for him, saying that maybe he's eating the toppings because he's poor and hungry. Seriously. I'm not kidding.

The fact they aren't responding makes me think of was in fact a scam... You still have time to file a claim with eBay just request a return with the reason not as described... eBay will at least force them to reach out to you if not refund you...I personally wouldn't let it be or the seller will just continue to scam and ignore people that complain.

With the exception of very VERY few Super Treasure Hunts, if you're paying for them on the secondary market, you're paying too much. If you're buying them in hopes of them going up in value, you're going to be disappointed. They ALWAYS go down (with a few exceptions like I said). If I don't find them in the wild, I leave them alone. I'll never pay $40+ for a $1 bathtub toy that they make 200k+ of and are NOT rare whatsoever (which is why they always go down to $10-$20 within 5 to 10 years).

You should definitely inspect it immediately, as soon as you receive it. Waiting 3 or 4 weeks, then finding issues, there is no way to determine what actually happened. Also why would you display it with tape on the blister for 3 or 4 weeks?

I'm not sure if the fact that the pack was open when you got it will really hurt the value of the car, on occasion, some single Hot Wheels pack can come off easily in stores. But the seller could have told you it was already open, not mint in package per say.

Personally, I think it's one of those loose TH's that get stolen from the factory in Malaysia. Seller probably got a hold of one and a store-bought one, and exchanged them. Either way, the seller should include that fact that's it open and has a small defect in the paint. I would definitely complain to Ebay and get my money back.

  • @dblastdiecast7402
    @dblastdiecast74022 жыл бұрын

Dealer was deceptive and could’ve mentioned the blister was loose, thereby justifying the drop in price. However, what did the seller really gain by doing this? All I can think of is that he also makes KZread videos and likes to put opened samples in his videos. Then puts them back and resells them if he finds another sealed one.

I wonder why they would choose the top edge of the blister to use acetone. The risk of bending the card is greater than if doing the sides and bottom edge. The other issue is that you can see the card underneath the blister has basically no glue on it. If they did the acetone trick, some glue markings / imprinting would be on the blister side and some on the card side. Paint damage is common with hot wheels, I've gotten a few with bubbles or other issues. Brand new cards from the case have scuff marks from rubbing up against the blister pack. It is completely possible the car you have was sold through factory connections and was swapped out for a nicer version in a package. Hope the seller gets back to you soon.

I'm not a collector, I freely admit. I'm just a guy who worked retail and stocked these. I've actually seen packaging for Hot Wheels and even a couple of other products separate *in the shipping totes, brand-spanking-new*, without any visible damage to the card or plastic blister, seemingly lacking full adhesive to the blister containing the product. At one point, I even pulled a pack out of a tote with the blister looking as though it had never been adhered to the card, with the card, blister and car all independently loose in the tote--miraculously, all without ANY signs of damage (it helped that the Hot Wheels in question was a transparent plastic model with no paint to damage, heh). I'm not saying that's what happened here, but it's *possible*. My *guess* is that you're RIGHT about your hypothesis in this case, but I figured I'd speak up regarding the age of a product potentially having nothing to do with how well adhered it is from the factory. Quality control issues happen.

I have had this happen on several cars during the 50th anniversary period. In 2018 I bought cases upon cases and I will tell you that HW was rushing the factories and so I feel what you got was a poor factory sealed car and you did not get scammed. I have several of the 2018 "Race Series" mainlines that have the blisters coming loose. I bet that along with the shipping process created the issue. Also I have 4 of those Aventador STH and none of them have perfect paint....2018 was a very bad year for HotWheels quality control. They just produced too much too fast to capitalize on the 50th.

Many factors with the blister coming off the card such as handling during shipping or temperature swings from being on the airplane. The paint defect sucks but have you seen all the pictures of the card and car before buying it? If the pictures already has a paint chip then you know what you are getting into especially for the price you were paying.

the only thing i can say for the devils advocate side is that here in Arizona if you leave these out in the heat of say a garage/man cave the glue releases a LOT faster than if kept inside. Its something we have to watch for when buying from other collectors locally. Loads of collections are stored in hot storage areas. So maybe it was intentional to screw you over, maybe it wasnt.. But the seller should have checked before sending it. Often a bit of Acetone on the glue of the plastic side will reactivate it and it will stick again.

I personally dont think this was a scam. I've seen plenty of cars where the blister and card come apart with no tampering. You can see that there is some ripping of the card that left a bit of cardboard on either side of the blister. If this was tampered you'd think the scammer would be more careful to avoid that. This could have been the result if weak glue and rough shipping. On the other hand, have you sniffed it? If it smells like acetone or scented nail polish remover then that is a sure sign of tampering.

I'm not defending the seller, although if it was in that condition, it should've absolutely been disclosed. HOWEVER, not all cars are free from defects, this means supers can have them as well. I've gotten a couple sealed supers right off the pegs that have had fingerprints on the windows, meaning they've been handled before. I've seen many cars that have paint chips just sitting on the pegs, still fully sealed. I've seen bubbles that have very poor adhesion to the card, to where the bubble is barely hanging on, and considering it has a couple rips, it was either poorly done or it was like that from the factory. All of those things are excusable. If you got that for less than half the normal going price, something had to be wrong and you looked over it. Go reread the listing if you can.

That's strange. Why open it, put wear and tear on it while keeping the card and plastic mint then slip it back into the package and advertise it as new? Possibly they had more than one with one opened and played with and decided to just open the new one and swap in the worn one to try to get the value of a new one in a deceptive attempt to screw someone over or just doing it to deliberately be mean, knowing that doing so would certainly upset whoever bought it, not caring who gets hurt because maybe they just like to hurt people and the knowledge that they have is enough for them to get a kick out of it. Kind of similar to people who do horrible things to others because they like hearing it being talked about by other people like a sick, twisted form of attention that makes them feel special or powerful because of an inferiority complex or just being vindictive.

Mr. Phil... well the Lamborghini Aventador looks legit but by the looks of it you got scammed because of defective packaging... or maybe that seller just open up and either play it with the kids or himself and put it back in place. Either way it's better that for all collectors out there need to be careful when it comes on online shopping.😓

Ok first let me say that I'm not sticking up for the seller but I have been collecting since 1995. In 2018 Mattel started trying out new "glue" on the blisters but there was an issue with it because the blisters were popping off in places. A good example is the Stars and Stripes series. If anyone remembers seeing them in stores then they saw that the blisters were taped to the cards. I questioned the Walmart manager about this and he told me that they were showing up like that. I didn't believe him but when I went to another store it was the same thing. Eventually Mattel stopped using that glue but obviously a lot of cars went out with that defective glue. I do know about the nail polish trick but it doesn't appear to have been used on yours because it does leave an impression mark. The defect on the roof...common factory defect. I have tons of cars with paint defects. If the seller DOESN'T reply then yes file a claim because that would be shady to not respond. Oh and by the way the blue painters tape doesn't guarantee to keep the blister from breaking. The car is still hitting the inside of the blister and can cause the blister to crack.

Sorry to see this happen to one of my favorite KZreadrs. I must ask though, did you ask about card condition or other disclaimers? I always ask in trades (i don't buy Sups or variations). I wish I was near you over a year ago as I would have made a trade for your loose for one of my carded but I got a loose from a show in a trade for an EF Civic and with that traded a carded away. This is a nefarious hobby and scammers are out there, everywhere. Hopefully one of your other subscribers can make a trade so you can get what you want and get that nasty taste out of your brain. C'mon subscribers, help him out.

"IF" the seller is innocent, they may not be responding because they don't to be scammed either. How many times have you seen cars on the pegs that have been returned after being tampered with? Personally, for me, it's in the dozens of times. Good Luck!!
