For the Phase 1 helmet plus he looks better with the weathering on this upcoming release. The green tinge was horrible on the previous.

@@TrooperDan_262agreed. The current Rex only works with the ep 3 looks for anakin and obi wan. The clone wars looks don’t go with that design.

I’m a big fan of how the practical clone costumes have looked in the series they’ve appeared in

I'm just happy that he has the armor tally on his right breast plate. It's a detail that is so frequently missed on these Hot Toys clones that it's really good to see it included here.

i'm in the same boat, i love the promo shots of this figure displayed with padawan ahsoka and anakin but the oversized holsters/ammo pack really turn me off. i already have og rex which i do like more despite its flaws, so unless this one goes on sale i think i'll pass on it for now :(

The large ammo pouch is fine because it's pretty in line with the size of the ammo pouches the sandtroopers had in the OT, and it's supposed to pretty much be the same pouch. I agree that the holsters look way oversized, though.

Mostly focusing on the Phase 2 armor of this figure, I like the look of it so far. The visor's not big like the 1st Hot Toys Rex which I like, but weird design choices for the big ammo pouch and the holsters, which is attributed to the actual show's design choices. I noticed they still haven't fixed the black lines segmenting the blue on the Phase 2 pauldron like the original, but they did it for the Phase 1 pauldron, and I wish the blue lines on the gauntlets were wider, as it clashes with the wider blue on the rest of the arms.

I'm thinking about picking this one up to give the phase 2 look to the previous Rex. I do like the white on this than the green we got before hand. Then just have the phase 1 elsewhere in the collection

The lines on that phase one helmet look way better than the other phase 1 helmets they’ve done. They actually kinda come to a point near the edges. Here’s hoping they keep that up going forwards and that it’s not just this helmet.

I like this version better cuz like you mentioned the live action suit is a lot better than the CW animated, I blame the designers for the holsters they obviously don’t know how to design holsters for the D-17 it looks like they worked on them first and when they got the D-17’s in hand they were huh they are to big tell Temuera to keep the guns in his hands at all times cuz they obviously don’t look good on the holsters they’re to damn big, so when transfer to 1/6 scale they look ridiculous. I have the OG Rex so I’ll be swapping holsters to make this one look accurate so it doesn’t look silly with those shoe boxes on his hips. Nice review and Tnx Ryan for the pictures 💯 am very excited for this version of Temuera Morrison Captain Rex.

Honestlyl, I'm fully willing to adopt the new disney armor style as canon. I think it was a very poor choice in the prequels to go full cgi, and while they've been the styles we've known for many years now, I'm cool with a change. Ignoring those costuming errors of course 😑
