I think the reason the blue is lighter is because the armor is live action, and they needed the blue to show up in dark scenes so the lighter blue shows up better than dark blue which ends up looks black. I think it was from a BTS video but can’t full remember. I still prefer the OG dark blue color 501st but this still looks good

actually the blue was a attempt to match it with the rots model, since it was lighter and the night scenes made it dark, but most fans didn’t like it so they swapped to a darker blue for mando and that’s why they look almost black in that show

I looked at the Clones in the Episode III video game and Battlefront II 2005: they both have pale blue. They also have blue on their backs in those games, but not in Episode III.

@@poky3933 Watching it again I can see the remnants of a blue design on the back but most of it is scratched off, particularly on Commander Appo.

It would be interesting to see if that smaller grenade would slide inside the barrel of a T-21. That weapon was used as a grenade launcher in the old Battlefront games.

I confess, clone troopers confuse me with the many and varied iterations. Don’t know much about this guy other than he looks good and that’s reason enough to have him in the collection😂 So so shiny , he really will pop in the detolf . There are loads of clone battalions and units and I agree it does get a bit confusing tbh! This guy was one of the clones killing Jedi at the Temple during Order 66 😀 But yeah, also very cool looking so was a must-have 😅 Thanks for watching mate, have a great weekend too 👊🏻

@@TK421Collectibles Onscreen, matte armour might’ve looked dull in dimly lit temple shots. In my cabinet, god knows where he’s going! Would look too shiny next to matte troopers like standard phase 2 CT, and haven’t got any ROTS figures!

Exactly! Think the darker colour worked ok in ROTS because the scenes were basically outdoor, whereas in Kenobi it was all indoors mostly. And yeah I'm not sure what shelf this trooper is going on yet 😅

Yes he is super shiny, excellent gloss finish on the armour bit like the ANH Troopers! Think the main issue now is he doesn't really pair up with many other figures in the display! But yeah tough to say no to a new clone 😅 Thank you for watching my friend!! 👊🏻

Sucks though, because these look so much cooler. 2 is the goal when I can. But when space is the final boss, there’s a problem. That’s my issue now with the Imperial Praetorian Guard. I only have one preordered. 😭 Time to start a collection in the living too!

One thing I really like about this figure is its colour scheme. There's something about that particular blue that really works with the white armour. Other coloured troopers didn't work as well for me, like the strong red or yellow etc, but this one does. While it may be a different blue than that of the movie, and I do like the darker blue of the clone wars version if I have to choose just one, I do really like this shade of blue a lot. While there may only be a couple of accessories I think those are very nice too. Although, is it just me or does it not look like the middle section of the DC15A blaster rifle is upside down? It looks so strange with the telescopic sight underneath the weapon. If that section is rotated 180 degrees then it makes the rifle look far better and functional, with the scope on top and the obvious grip underneath. I guess an argument could be made that it's a laser pointer style attachment slung below and it's the iron sights that are what are used to aim, but I don't buy that because of the length of the rifle itself. A short stubby rifle would be used at iron sights range, yes, but something this long is designed for long distance.

I really love this shade of blue too! It really pops especially in live-action during the series. I find it really eye catching. Great point regarding the sight underneath the weapon. This is actually a sniper scope that is stowed via the underside of the weapon and also doubles as a hand hold for when the trooper is on the move. Later the DC-15x was produced which acted as a dedicated sniper rifle with the scope afixed to the top. But you're 💯 correct the blaster rifle is effectively a long range weapon with and without the sniper scope attachment! 👊🏻

I like that they add blue colours in some area which previous clones don’t have👍🏻 (e.g 4:06 )however This is a skip for me because I don’t like the new mold (especially the ones that under the belt It looks weird🤨)

A nice figure ,for the first time can see 👀a Stromtrooper in him . Think the baby thermal detonator is child friendly because they run out of money 💰 and could only afford to make child clones 😂😂 Are the clones in Kenobi CGI or real?

Hey Chris great video and cool figure. A mate said the colours aren’t accurate, they had to change the colour due to a dispute with Lucas about the rights for the characters made under his control. The 501st colours are a far darker blue. Different clone armour too. In AOTC and ROTS all the clones with Computer generated, but in the Kenobi show they made a bunch of armour. If Disney changed the design Lucas wouldn’t get royalties. He knows his stuff.

Ahh interesting! Thanks for the info Mandy, I knew the films were all CGI and the series has actual props but wasn't aware of the dispute. I was thinking it was to do with the shift to live-action clones and lighting on set etc requiring a more vibrant blue. But yeah, a dispute (i.e. money!) makes more sense. Everything always comes down to $$$$$$$$$ doesn't it! 😅 Thanks for the info and for checking out the video 👊🏻

Nice review Chris. Not for me this one, as I’m happy with the original 501st I have, but can understand why people want this version - it’s a nice looking figure! One question - where do you find out about production figure numbers? A few reviews from various KZreadrs lately has mentioned things like, low production run, one batch etc. How can I get this information, as it would be handy to know for some figures… Cheers mate! 👍🏼

Cheers mate, understandable, the original 501st are still awesome! Regarding low production, I usually just go off the pricing of resellers and how quick they start to sell out or nudge the price up. Also aftermarket is a good indicator (e..g Crosshair!) So I don't pretend to have any 'inside source' or anything like some of the bigger KZreadrs sometimes say! 😅 Hot Toys don't release their production run numbers (unless it's an exclusive like Umbra Trooper) so no one really knows 👊🏻

The colour difference might not actually be a colour difference. Quite often screen accurate colour and set accurate colour are different despite it being the same costume. Usually the difference is mainly because of the colour grade but also other things affect the colour on screen like the type and Kelvin of the lighting and more in this case, the type of camera sensor or film used to shoot with. Baring in mind technology has changed a lot since the movie and if they were CGI that can also affect colour. Short answer is, check out pictures of both costumes to see how they look in real life, they might be closer in colour than you think. On another topic, remember we talked about the weathering on these guns in your last video? I'm getting the distinct feeling they're just phoning it in now, bases and accessories are just showing no effort, I think hot toys is so big now they've gone from making artistic 1/6 scale detailed figures to just printing money. Sad but seems to be the case.

Interesting! I 100% agree screen colour and set colour can definitely appear different can't they! I think the consensus is that the blue is definitely different for the live action clones in the Kenobi Series and the CGI clones in ROTS. Another commenter had a great point that a dark blue would appear black in darker scenes so sounds like they wanted the blue to show up more in the temple scenes. This rings true as it reminded me of the shot of R2 in the X-Wing in ANH, the dark blue on the dome appears black in some of the darker space scenes! Also agree, the weathering is totally bare-bones on these weapons! It seems to be getting less and less with each release doesn't it!! 😅 I'm gonna say they're 'prop accurate' just to make me feel better 😅 Thanks as always for checking out the video mate 👊🏻

I think with the R2-D2 it might be because they were shooting on a blue screen and they had to mask out R2's blur parts by making them black and white when editing to avoid chroma key issues. Yeah dude, honestly I think it's an insult to collectors, they are not cheap to buy and they just put no effort into those weapons.

Great review as ever m8 ... but you got to stop tempting me with these pesky clones

Yeah maybe with the clone pilots phase 2 helmet. This trooper is just a bit shinier than the others though but I don’t think it would look terrible paired up 👊🏻

Actually it is the old figure and battlefront 2, Ahsoka and the Mandalorian wich had the 501st being dark blue, in revenge of the sith while they indeed appear to be dark blue, it is only becouse of the lighting, becouse they only appeared in the dark. If you look at the official cgi models of episode 3 they are indeed light blue, battlefront 2005 got their colours right. This figure is based on the kenobi show armors, wich were close, but a bit too light, so overall this is much more accurate to revenge of the sith than the old figure, almost the perfect colour.

@@TK421Collectibles It doesn't have to do anything with the lighting, you can see the T posing charts of the episode 3 cgi models without any lighting and thanks to a stunt performer (who is also a real life 501st member called Ardeshir Rapdour, has a KZread channel too) who played the clones in Kenobi we know the exact paint, colour they used in the live action armors, fortunately this figure got the colour exactly right.

If I was to ever get a Clone Trooper. This would be it. Well two of them for that iconic look with Anakin. As I cant tell the difference from one 501st to the older ones lol. Anyway fantastic video as always bud. 😊
