The boy Ivashka is grateful to the watchman who didn't punish him after catching him in the collective farm garden. What's more, the old man didn't even scold the juvenile thief - he took pity and let him go in peace! When Ivashka finds the magic stone that brings back youth, he gives it to the kind guard. But, to the boy's surprise, the old man is in no hurry to turn back time - every moment he lives is precious to him. The work teaches: one should live worthily, not to regret anything and to be proud of one's past. The philosophical meaning of the fairy tale is uniqueness, inevitable difficulties and mistakes on the way to realize the truth.
The story "Hot Stone" is a fairy tale story by Arkady Gaidar, which first appeared in print in 1941 before the war began. "Hot Stone" tells about the really important and significant, about life, which if you think about it, no one wants to start over. Gaidar said that he wanted young readers to understand that life is given only one and to live it with dignity.
Arkady Gaidar was already at the front when his fairy tale "Hot Stone" appeared in the magazine "Murzilka" for 1941, No 8, 9. He wrote it in April of the same year shortly before the start of the Great Patriotic War. Former editor of the magazine V.I. Semyonov recalls how Arkady Gaidar first read this tale to him.
"There was no pathos or declamation in his reading. Sometimes he paused, which gave an opportunity to experience what was happening..... and at the same time very important idea: life is given to a person once, it must be lived worthily, it cannot be "rewritten" later.
Addressing in the fairy tale to young readers, Arkady Gaidar says the innermost things about himself: "And why should I have another life? Another youth? When mine has been hard, but clear and honest!"

Opinions about this work may be contradictory, but the fact that the story teaches compassion, kindness, not to take someone else's - this is indisputable. Through the lips of an elderly man, the author expressed his wish that our country, even without him, but would be as great and mighty! The old man did not want to start a new life, as this one he lived honestly and clearly. And the stone remained lying there, people passed by it, but nobody used its magic power. So, everyone was satisfied with the life they had and did not want to start it anew.
