Hot stepper motor driver when using Arduino and L298.

Using an Arduino to drive a stepper motor with the L298 motor driver. I would not recommend using one for steppers as it gets way too hot. It does not limit the current draw of the stepper.

    You should use TMC silentsteppers like 2208, 2209, 2226 etc. and forget about A4988, DRV 8825 or the TB6600, because these are all crap drivers.

    This is not a very good stepper driver. You should use dedicated stepper driver like TB6600 or something similar. Thanks

    Agreed. I kept seeing different tutorials talk about using it, but they don't mention how terrible it is for a stepper.

    @@ucan3dprint959Same here, saw a lot of videos with steppers and l298, however mine will get super hot after some minute only. Still haven’t had any use of the l298 for anything, gets overheated from looking at it. Can I ask if you found a solution or switched to something else?
