Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas: One Day Exploring History, Hiking Trails & Mountain Towers

Hot Springs National Park is a park in Arkansas that houses many historic bathhouses that were used in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The bathhouses get their water directly from the hot springs that come out of the mountain and the whole experience is very unique in United States national parks. I spent the entire day exploring the bath houses, eating at the restaurants, hiking some of the parks trails and just enjoying the history. Here is my one day at Hot Springs National Park and let me know what I left off in the comments.

Born and raised right here in Hot Springs. This video sheds a really good light on how cool the city is. I forget sometimes bc I’m just used to it, but Hot Springs really is a beautiful place.

I'm a Spa City native myself. I used to love this city, but have since seen its dark underbelly and how much sin and corruption have taken its toll on this place. I've never lived anywhere else and would love to get away from this town for a change. But I've fallen on hard times and I highly doubt that I'll ever get to. It's pretty cool to run across videos like this on a big platform like YT and see comments from people that actually live here, too. 6 degrees of separation, I bet we all know some of the same people, or even know each other. Take care.

I live in Hot Springs. Thank you for sharing our city and help putting it on the map, it’s a great place to live. Small town feel. It was good to see where you live and so many positive places to explore. Moved here from So California. Thanks for sharing your travels. It’s like being there without being there!

Lived here since I was 5. Love it. Strikes a great balance between a city and small town in my opinion. Living here so long you start to take the beautiful scenery for granted. I went to a classic car meetup thing at Pettie Jean Mountain. Unbelievable views.

I live in Northwest Arkansas and have been to Hot Springs a dozen times. But, you're video shows me a lot of the National Park that I didn't know. And the fact that you don't waste your time (and me, too!) by extremely looooong (and boring) videos of whatever you're shooting is GREAT! Excellent job!

I’m loving watching all of your videos. They are well done and informative. I’ve a suggestion for another nice trip….come to New England in the Fall. I live in Maine. You can fly into Boston, rent a car and be in Maine in 2 hours. Fall in New England can’t be beat. Foliage peaks are around Columbus Day in general. You can easily see Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont or just concentrate on 1 or 2 states. You’ll love it, guarantee. ♥️

Idk why but this video really touched me. Hot Springs is my first real place I've lived in since I started journey traveling the country in my little camper. With everything in life I kind of lost track of why I even started my journey. You're video really inspired me and reminded me why I'm out here- just exploring and seeing what this world has to see! Thank you and best of luck on your journeys!

Awesome! I didn't know a thing about Hot Springs because nobody really goes there and REALLY nobody vlogs about it! So thanks! While there are quite a few other parks that are higher on my list, this video makes me look forward to the day I do get to Hot Springs.

As a proud Arkansan of 18 years (sold my Temecula, California insurance agency and relocated in 2004 - thank goodness!), just an FYI: Hot Springs and just about every place east of Hot Springs is COMPLETELY different and vastly inferior to the western side of the state. I live on 36 spectacularly beautiful acres with a 2-1/2 acre lake in the Ouachita National Forest with plenty of necessary amenities nearby. It is a completely safe area - as a single woman, I don't even bother to lock my doors at night. It IS paradise!

Thanks for making such a great video about my home town and glad you had a great time, been living in Hot Springs since I was 5 (33 now). You really take for granted how beautiful the scenery is (not just in Hot Springs, but all over Arkansas) when you live here so long. Recently I went to Peti Jean State Park, there were so many breathtaking views. And yeah, Baileys has AMAZING milk shakes. Oh also my High School biology teacher used to work part time at the alligator farm. One day during a show an alligator got its mouth clamped around his arm. Thankfully, he didn't suffer any permanent injuries, and the alligator was fine as well.

I didn’t get to explore all those places because my arthritis keeps me from doing all that walking, but I would have loved to. I did do a little exploring by car. AWESOME Video as always Josh, beautiful verdant countryside and the town has some unique buildings, kinda like made in the Main Street style, yet in its own proper manner. And how hot was the water when you took a shower or brushed your teeth?LOL....very HOT! ;) As for the alligators there, I'd a thought they were only on the gulf coast not as inland as Arkansas is. As for the Bailey fast food joint, reminds me of Milt's Stop N Eat in Moab, say btw, when Pops and you went to Arches, did ya get to eat at Milt's? Well, that is if its still open for business. Loved the bird's eye view ya got going up the elevator as well as the hike but the elevation isn't that high up huh?I noticed on that map segment you showed, it had a peak at 1,121ft.and from what I remember Mt.Mitchell in the Appalachians is 5,000 ft . above sea level. Thanks for sharing, liked and wishing ya a great week! :)

It’s crazy I’ve lived 30 mins away from Hot Springs my whole life and have never really gotten the chance to experience it’s whole beauty I will say there is an old candy store a few shops down from the coffee place you visited that’s very nice but of course you can’t experience everythingggg😂 but it’s a very pretty city with really low crime rates compared to many cities that are similar if you’re still staying in AR or ever plan on returning I suggest for another smaller city coming to Murfreesboro where there’s the diamond mines we’re known for where you can keep all findings as well as many crystal shops and arrowhead searches etc there’s also the northwest corner of AR where we have our highest populations there is Springdale which is a very suburban area with a high Hispanic and Marshallese population with many great authentic Mexican restaurants and stores then there is Bentonville home town of Walmart so their main store is there then the biggest is Fayetteville Razorback city we have our large football and baseball stadium there as well as a huge variety of cultures and businesses shopping districts etc we are the natural state for a reason it truly is a beautiful state💜ps we’ve got Clinton’s birthplace and Johnny Cash birthplace

I would consider Hot Springs more of a Historic site than a national park.

It is a national park which is great because the crime in this area is very low the federal government is very staunch about things like graffiti and there's no trash in the downtown area. I walked alone at night and felt completely safe

I know it’s a NP. I’m saying it should be a National Historic Site. When you hear “National Park” you think Yellowstone,Smokey Mountains, Yosemite, etc. I’ve visited over 40 different national parks and Hot Springs was kind of a disappointment.

What tools do you use to identify places to visit in a new town?
