Indulge in the warmth of steaming hot apple cider, a comforting cold weather drink with aromatic spices. This large batch recipe makes about 10 cups.
Hot Apple Cider Recipe:
2 cups of orange juice
8 cups of apple cider
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
1 sliced orange and apple
2 tsp of cloves
1 tsp of ground allspice
1 tsp of ground cinnamon
ginger (cut or grated)
1/4 tsp of nutmeg
1/4 cup of brown sugar
Optional:
2 cups of spiced rum
or 1 to 2oz of spice rum and 1/2 oz of dark rum on top of drink
Simmer all ingredients, but rum in a pot for 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once a simmer starts, turn temperature to low and cover. Do not cook too high. Strain drink of all spices and fruit before serving.
