As a mental health nurse with 20 years clinical experience this whole scene is quite embarrassing. The threshold for sections under the mental health act, which I assume this is, is very high. What's clear with this lady is that whilst she is very well presented, and appears to have capacity, she isn't able to retain what anyone is saying. She doesn't appear able to weigh up information, and make a decision. She likely lacks capacity, as per the Mental Capacity Act. The asbestos comment is a bit odd and alerted the hospital staff to make further investigations. Hospitals are snowed under so generally don't follow people into the street. Therefore, having a dozen people surrounding her trying to reason with her is more likely to traumatize her, rather than lead to a return to hospital. She is unable to reason based on the footage, is scared and likely quite unwell. Whilst sounding archaic a more assertive approach and swift return to hospital whilst not a good thing is likely to lead to a better outcome. This should have taken five minutes rather than been allowed to develop into the circus it did, which is a complete waste of resources and bad for the ladies mental health.

I could not agree more. I worked at Elmleigh in Havant and also Hollybank same town. None of us would ever leave our patients/residents alone to create a farce or drama that would only be detrimental to them or staff. We worked as family and friends. What ever went on outside, stayed outside. We would get Council workers trying to fine some of our residents that were allowed out for dropping cigarette butts just outside our property line in the public domain. The Fag Butt Police spread the word that patients here would drop litter and butts so they hung around in bushes, I kid you not. When the residents came in all wound up, the 3rd Party Council workers thought it was OK for them to come in and find out the details of our patients so they could dish out a fine. WE RAN THEM OFF THE PROPERTY. I then made it my mission to go clean up outside. We made complaints to the council and the Fag Butt Police on commission were told to STAY AWAY. It is a really serious issue, when people being looked after for not being completely well, can not even go out for 5 minutes before someone comes along and destroys months of work.

She's far more "with it" than the hundreds of crack addicts that roam the streets... don't see the police trying to get them help in a hospital. Didn’t consent to treatment, got threatened with being sedated, feared for his safety and left. 2 hours later he had police threatening to kick his door in. Said under the Mental Capacity Act he had no choice but to go back. That Act is designed for the dementia patient walking around in their nightwear or the guy so drugged up he’s a danger to himself. Unless she lacks capacity to give (and thus refuse) consent under the Mental Capacity Act 2005. On the facts of this video alone, nothing shows she lacks capacity, but we don't know her antecedents, whether she's under a court order giving medical professionals powers to detain her if they feel it is in her best interest an so on... they have assumed care for her at some point, and are probably legitimately concerned (in legal terms) for her wellbeing. Like Charlie said it is a grey area especially when we viewers don't have all the facts.

It is disgusting that a member of public seeking medical help for obvious chest issues should be treated like this. And being a registered nurse myself, i would find it hard to give good reason for a bunch of goons to chase my patient away, as an advocate she should be in the patients corner, not the camera mans face. How sick is a society that forces a young woman to trust a total stranger with a camera, rather than a policeman or nurse? The lady displayed not one bit of mental health issues, her argument was entirely logical, so no Psychosis, paranoia or delusions. So, she was singled out because her cultural view of medicine is different from a white nurses view? Which of course makes it racism through the back door. Nurse, shame on you. And the rest of you goons.

I believe Veitch should be prosecuted for this. He hindered professionals and delayed that woman's treatment. nurses don't just follow members of the public into the street for fun. the woman looks far from alright to me. The nurse is the only one there who has access to her medical record. Veitch had no business sticking his nose in. Many medical problems cause behaviour like this. I've seen people walk out of resus who would die if they didn't return to continue treatment. Drugs can cause behaviour like this, infections can cause this behaviour, a hypo will cause this sort of behaviour, low oxygen saturation causes confusion and stress. I can't believe an adult would see a nurse and police with an agitated patient and start banging on about her rights being violated. His tone says it all. he thinks it's all a big joke. Well he's toying with people's lives when he starts pulling stunts like this. Grow up Veitch. You're a far bigger menace than to people you target. I'm no fan of the police or the politicians but anyone with a working brain can see this is a woman who needs help.

I saw a video Charlie of someone with a camera taking shots of a building. That is all it was. Suddenly people from within came out all aggressive and surrounded the chap, they were very hostile. Apparently, they were looking after vulnerable people yet decided to leave them all alone inside to accost an individual taking photo's of buildings. I imagine the vulnerable people inside may have become alarmed and stressed because of these peoples actions. These people became very angry and I think one of them called the police over a few photos the chap was taking. It really made no sense to me. They should have stayed with their clients, customers, patients, what ever they are and closed blinds perhaps and then sung some happy songs. But instead, they left all the vulnerable people inside to create mayhem and fear. I wonder what transpired when they all went back in only to realise all the vulnerable inside that had not noticed anything were all rattled. How long did it take these fools to calm down their vulnerable clients after creating such a pointless and needless drama. Can't be good for those inside being there for their wellbeing. Such a shame. I can't find the link to the video but a lot of people have seen it 😜

And the way you spoke to that nurse was absolutely disgusting. You ought to be ashamed.
