Apparently this vocalist was prominent during his time. I've seen a few reactions here and irl in the past of people reacting in shock and disbelief that he sang Horst Wessel Lied.

It was one of the first renditions I ever heard but I think.the.lift was far poorer and sounded at the wrong speed in places Good on.whoever found this so pristine and will.we ever know the identity of the tenor.

I find it fascinating that when Horst Wessel wrote it, it held the lyrics "soon, Hitler's flags will fly over every street" and by the time it became the party anthem after his murder, the lyrics changed to "already, Hitler's flags fly over every street"

Happens. Look up the flyers that were done for "Lili Marleen" by Marlena Dietrich. There was definitely a correlatoin in the NSDAP iconography being showcased in her posters + SA men attending her shows in the earlier years.
