Vintage footage of Horsham District Sports Day, from the murky depths of the early 1980s.
Seen competing for Northolmes Junior School (all wearing number 8) are Steven and Richard Ponsford, Philip and Ian Browning, David Newton, Adrian Ward, Dean Elliot, Warren Marsh, Andrew 'Package' Price, Mark Twum-Ampofo, David Hamilton and Darren Lomon (and I'm sure I spotted a young Boris Johnson running the relay, wearing number 9, at 4m35s).
Originally shot on cine film by my dad, Roger Ponsford, the film begins with the 1982 event (unknown venue), then segues into 1983 at Tanbridge School, then Collyers Sixth Form playing fields in 1984(?), where it was raining so hard, the slippery relay batons were abandoned in favour of the old 'hand slap' method.
