Well, or course! The refinement of domestic horses causes cleaner throat latches, smaller mouths, dished faces, long graceful necks and legs...compare with the modern day Prezwalski's horse which is untouched by humans and still looks ancient.

@@brandonaldaymachuse6669 Yes, humans show that we are more alike than different than the changes we make to domesticate animals show similarities no matter who does it or where. Even bulky workhorses like Clydesdales have such graceful beauty ( in human eyes ) traits.

I think you are a little off on some of the modern breeds. Arabians are known for being small yet the Arab that you show looks quite tall next to the man (my Arabian is 14.2 hh or 145 cm, much smaller than what you have listed and he is pretty average for his breed). Also, you somehow managed to find the photo of the world’s most slender Halfinger! Lol

Agree. And I believe the Shire horse is considered to be the largest horse breed alive today. And the Lipizzaner horses are often quite small, around 155 cm. I've once rode one and it was only 150 cm. But good video anyway, despite a few errors!

The same is true of the Shetland Pony - the example used here is way off the norm. They’re generally a metre tall max, and most are smaller than that. I’ve never seen one remotely as big as given here!

not exactly. yes there may be shire horses that weight around 1300kg but that horse is above average Shire horse(average shire horse is weight around 900kg). what makes Giant horse so amazing is that this ancient horses average weight is around 1200kg(to be honest it may be more heavy). so potentially this horse would become massive as fuck with human help. imagine breeding this horse with Shire or something, maybe it would produce even larger breed like liger. who knows. freaking gorgeous horse

Yeah, that's why they used Clydesdales for pulling more that a shire bc the shires height would cause stress on its bones and joints not making it as good of a pulling/driving horse as a Clydesdale is. Well that's what I've heard

Generally, the Shire horse is bigger than Clydesdale. Clydesdales are slightly smaller, which results in a lighter weight, less stress on their joints, and greater agility. Clydesdales are also available in more colors than Shires. They have more feathering in the lower legs than those in Shires as well.

Sould have done one videos on Extant and Extinct horse breeds, then another on Extant and Extinct Equini tribe or just on the wild genus (Equus). As Quagga zebra (Equus quagga quagga) is a subspecies of the Plains zebra (Equus quagga), along with Grant's zebra (E. q. boehmi), Damara zebra (E. q. antiquorum), Chapman's zebra (E. q. Chapman's) etc, if you add one zebra add them all.

This is an overall equine comparison, not a mere extant horse comparison

The picture you used of the oldenburg is Negro, Valegro’s sire and a Dutch Warmblood. It doesn’t affect too much I think since a lot of warmbloods are very closely related but I just wanted to mention it. I only know this because I used that exact picture in a horse color genetics study.

We have a Frisian and a hanoverian and they are much bigger then that is shown on the video. Also have a mix Connemara but he is just really tiny🙈

that last horse is fucking cool looking even though that image is definitely Mongolian Takhi(some of them have those stripes, I have seen it with my eyes and with my binocular. they have weirdly thick head though. makes them look even more prehistoric(when you actually see it close in person you will see how thick the head is in proportion to its other horses 🤔🤔🤔

The only reason some are extinct (except for the quagga) is because they’ve simply have evolved into modern horses or have gone extinct from natural causes. The quagga went extinct because of us.

Horses have been a successful species for millions of years before human's evolved. Yet human's feel the need to lock them up in stables on fine days, shave them and put rugs on them on warm days.

We never put rugs on them on warm days. Where I live, it gets pretty hot in the summer (35-40⁰ celsius) and we make sure they get enough water and we shower them after every ride. We only put rugs on them in the winter. And about your statement that we "lock them up in stables", we exercise them every day so their needs are met. The reason why we shave or clip horses is so that they don't overheat in the summer. It's actually very beneficial for them

It's good you have common sense about rugs, that part of my comment doesn't apply to you. As for stables, keep in mind a horse is awake 22hr a day. Locking a horse up for most of its awaking hours is torture and should be done as little as possible.

@@rayclam8079 Most horse breeds are used to this, some horses still exist into the wild and are protected by law. We actually have helped horses in their species by making more successful in domestication and breeding. I know horses get abused, it is horrible but also illegal. They get arrested and the horses get put in a better place.

Most domesticated horses do get used to being mistreated, but it doesn't mean they don't suffer nor does it make it right. Most horse abuse is due to human ignorance. As for wild horses being protected, tell that to the horses that get captured and slaughtered for "population control" by goverment organisations, and the feral horses that are maladapted to live in the wild due to human domestication and selective breeding.

@@merpequestrian5122 because I know the difference between a Criollo and a Connemara. A Criollo is an Argentian breed, is a HORSE and looks nothing like a Connemara, which is a British Isles breed, and is a PONY. 🤷‍♀️

@@MT-ud6hx there are many strains of Arabian horses (ie.. Polish, Crabbet, Egyptian, Russian, etc….) but they are ALL the same Species. AND while there may be the OCCASIONAL individual that exceeds 16 hands, for the most part they are a much smaller breed than the Andalusian.
