Its to avoid confusion. If you're listening and not watching and you hear the horses name you assume its in the race. A horse without a jockey can't win.

In future just let the horses run themselves and see what happens. Then its literally anyone's guess which horse wins.

@@albertg63 Yes! haha! Just because it has maybe a couple lbs less on it doesn't mean it will run faster. Could it? Maybe, but not always. Some horses are just faster than others. Also, to these animals the weight of a jockey is nothing to them.
