M/S of the racetrack at Gosling Stadium in Welwyn Garden City with a lone horse and trap trotting round and spectators and bookies in foreground; C/Us of a bookie chalking names on his blackboard; another takes a bet. M/S of a horse and trap being led onto the track. Various shots as the race starts and we see five entrants trotting around the track intercut with shots of spectators. Commentator says "...even people seeing it for the first time thrill to the new appeal of trotting".
More shots of the race; some drivers use whips on their horses. Commentator says "Every driver tries to restrict his horse to the trot, all through the race. A gallop or canter doesn't mean disqualification in the early stages, but it does at the finish". We don't see the actual finish of the race, but see the horses and drivers walking around after it, then C/U of the prize of a silver trophy cup, zooming in on a figure of a horse at the top. M/S of a man handing the trophy to a small boy standing next to the winning horse and driver who is sitting slouched on the trap in a blue jockey hat and black and white jacket.
