HORSE SPOOKS | GOPRO TACK UP AND RIDE WITH ME

Hello fellow equestrians! :) Get ready for a ride with me on the one and only Mr. Fish! During our ride little fishy thought he saw a ghost and he spooked 😂
All the action is captured on my trusty GoPro, so you can feel like you're right in the saddle with me. So grab your helmet, saddle up, and let's hit the arena together!

I'm not sure if you've heard this one before, but a rule of thumb I follow for adjusting my stirrups on the ground is by measuring the stirrup leather against the inside of my arm. Hand against the saddle and pull the stirrup into your armpit with the other hand. Then adjust until the leather is the same length as your arm with the buckle at the stirrup bar. It's not a flawless system but it gives you a good length to where you should only need to adjust 1 or 2 holes in the saddle :)

Yes I agree! But sometimes you do just have to adjust it randomly because they are to long to short ect

Tip for getting the right stirrup length!! Hold your stirrup straight out so it looks like a wing then take your dominate arm and put your arm straight out over top the stirrup. Then you put your fingertips just where the stirrup leather meets the saddle ( make sure your fingers aren’t bent) then put the stirrup right against your armpit then if the Stirrup leather can’t reach your armpit then it needs to go longer, if your stirrup leather has slack in it after you put it on your armpit, then it needs to go shorter! Let me know if you have any questions!

New sub! Even though I’ve been riding for 5 years there’s still more to learn, and your care for horses is something phenomenal! I usually don’t have the time to brush with many brushes as the lessons between are max 1 hour.

when a horse pulls against the lead when walking its best not to look at them. Keep looking forward to show that whether they pull or not your still going to the arena. Looking at them focuses all your attention on them and your not paying attention to where you want to go. This helps a lot!

Ugh I also have problems with stirups! Most of the time they are too long because girl who rided before me is pretty big and here's a tip my trainer gaved me for stirrups: stirrups mustfit size of your head so put your hand from start to end of stirrup and stirrup girth😁

Once I was on a horse with blue eyes he is kinda blind to the sun. His name is Winston. Winston was standing in the sun when I was riding him so my coach could open the gate to the arena and someone put more manure in a bin and Winston had no idea that the man was doing that and he freaked up And startled, safe to say I was terrified

quick tip for making sure ur stirrups are going to fit: when u pull them up take ur stirrup and see if it reaches out to ur armpit in a straight line. sometimes u still have to adjust when u get on but it does help! also, ur arena is so cute!

Mr. Fish has multiple issues that should be addressed. His rider, though caring, isn't handling him to fix those issues. And that patting! No horse likes patting, especially if it's audible. Why, why, why do riders think it conveys anything positive to the horse. It does not; it's just one more thing they have to learn to ignore.

  • @RidewithClara

Thank you for your concern, although I ride Fisher sometimes, he is not my horse and it is not my place to overstep and try to implement training on him. His owner knows him well and takes good care of him and I’m sure she has/will address any issues he may have. The GoPro tends to exaggerate the audio, the pats are fine, we all enjoy a gentle pat as encouragement :)

@@RidewithClara "... we all enjoy a gentle pat as encouragement ..." That's an assumption; I certainly do not; it's weird. Evidently, you do, therefore, you assume everyone else, including animals, does. Your assumption is wrong.
