There are no nerves in the hooves, which means they don’t feel anything, not even pain…… yes, you need skill, but it’s not like the horse is going to squirm

The trimming of the hoof and the frog is so satisfying, watching all that excess material come off to reveal nice, healthy tissue! I know very little about horses but these videos are relaxing to watch. I'm curious about one thing, why three nails in one side of the hoof but only two in the other? Does it have something to do with force distribution, giving a little extra grip on one side due to how the horse walks?

I think it’s a liquid that helps reinforce the hoof wall. Or it could be just an oil for moisture, not 100% sure. 🤷🏻‍♀️ after research tho, Kevlar Tuff is for reinforcement and moisture. Helps prevents cracks, moisturizes.. found it on Amazon.

So basically horses have a layer like finger nails and sometimes it gets muck and dirty or grow to long so you have to shave it of it doesn’t hurt just like cutting your finger nails except If you hit the bit in the middle wich may hurt the horse but if you watch the whole birdie there is a layer on the frog (middle bit ) that doesn’t hurt

The horse doesn’t feel a thing, but making sure their hooves are properly trimmed and shoe’d is important.

Guys,I know this is quite off topic,but I need to ask some questions : 1. Why are horse shoes shaped like that and don’t cover the entire horse hooves? 2. Very, a hoof is a keratin structure. Imagine your fingernails but harder. No nerve endings and the nails are sized as not to go to the part where hoof meets flesh
