In my AP art class in highschool there was this scene/emo girl. I moved from my other highschool in the middle of junior year because my mom married my step dad and we moved to where he lived. I had to leave all my friends behind, I felt so out of place in the new school But then this girl in my art class started talking to me. She was so sweet and funny. I never cared about how people looked or what they dress in. What matters is their heart, who they are and more importantly what they do. She helped me feel like I was worth talking to when I felt invisible. She had a great sense of humor. I wish I could say that we became close friends, but she died that year during summer vacation. They found her car wrapped around a tree. They think she was driving while drunk, but I never heard the whole story. She drew something really funny in one of my sketch books, and I cherishsd that book. My college boyfriend thew it out along with many of my belongings after we broke up, in a fit of rage. I cried so much, because that book was the most important thing I had at the time. Even though she's gone she isn't forgotten. I still think of her often, about how much I wish we could have been good friends. So this game hit a little too close to home for me, but I really enjoyed it, for that reason too. She was kind and caring until the very end.

In the article Casper sends, it's mentioned that a LOT of people were grieving and showing sympathy for him, even starting a hashtag declaring they're his friends. Every people will lie and plead just to escape the moment they find themselves cornered. You all are wondering if Josh was a bad person because Petra tried to get to his good side but have most of you ever wondered if she wasn't the only one who may have tried that tactic? Especially even the most the scummiest of the ones. *Of course Petra wasn't any of that so I can see why people didn't like what happened* but the thing is he must have killed multiple victims and pleading like that may not have been his very first experience. Who knows, if anything one of his bullies may have tried that tactic as well and if you ask me, it's just going to remind him of how much more scummy other people can be. And besides, he's playing a game and I'm pretty sure not a single person will get any special treatment.

I really like the way the protagonist was handled. Firstly, it was just refreshing to see one that isn't stereotypically awful to the elderly, but she was quite kind in general. The most difficult thing to watch was her having to give up that kindness purely to survive, telling us a really important moral truth- sometimes good people do bad things because the only alternative is succumbing to a bad thing that happened to them. Sometimes good people die alone, and sometimes, like in this game, they don't.

35:50 It's subtle, but the monster actually appears in the window. I didn't even notice it until I went back and checked why she closed the curtains after saying "I'm sorry".
This whole game is really nostalgic! When I was little I was always a bit spooked by these! I remember once I got sent one while I was waiting for my parents to pick up as they just came back from their trip! I got one and I was super nervous! Luckily it was all ok :D
This is safety kitty. He protects you from all chain mail and scary letters. Now that you have seen him he is always with you. 😺
Ten minutes in and Petra has a functioning empathy gland at 17... she truly is the chosen heroine! Golly I Sure Hope Nothing Spooky Happens To Her This Hallow Of Een
Ohh I played this for the Spooktober VN contest! Kudos to the creator again. I said it over the itchio page but it's one time where jumpscares are done right, setting got me tense, and it was one of the few entries with a finished story, with a buttload of CGs. The fact that it was made by one person made it all more commendable. I especially liked the gimmick of the grandmother being a faceless voice. That could have been used more, in fact. Without making the grandma the main focus, you could keep that as an additional source of tension throughout the thing that could even compete with the "monster"
It sucks what Josh went thru but it’s still an asshole move to kill people, especially people that didn’t have anything to do with his death. >:|
This game takes me back in so many ways. And Petra is a cute character, I wish there were more female protags like her. I'm glad I experienced this even despite the traumatic chain mail memories 😂
The ghost got me good so bad, just from peeking through the door-. The realistic stop motion-esc style is terrifying and throws you off guard from this cartoonish styled world You can tell it's a good horror game where it can scare you off simply from the eerie situation and no actual jumpscares using any loud noises
8:23 Nutshell info: A kid named Josh wanted to host a party, only bullies came and set him on fire. Send this email to 15 people and you won't die from his spirit. You have 15 minutes, time starts now.

Aw man. I really like Petra she is extremely nice. I really liked this game it was a great horror experience in my opinion.
That ending was so subtle gave me a heart attack and then immediately filled me with despair.
That's a great jump scare. Games and movies need to use the silent jump scare more! I definitely was not expecting it!
@jojojojojojojojojojojojo4181

Silent jumpscares are way more scary than loud one's, loud one's startle you and usually get rid of built up tension, silent one's keep it as you have to wonder what next
Man, working in a retirement village made the start of this hit hard for me. Just this morning I was getting hugs and talking with some seniors who are like extra pairs of grandparents. It’s nice to see my job portrayed like this instead of as a chore. I love the people I take care of, even if some of them are really crabby. Call up your grandparents if you can, guys… I mean, provided they aren’t terrible people, I know that happens. It’s sad to see so many sweet people who never get visitors except for an hour on Christmas.
Man, felt bad for the protag; I, too, had a *ton* of social anxiety as a teen and this would've been my worst nightmare lol
I never knew enough people for these and i felt bad send it to strangers 💀

I had people added on snapchat but didn't talk to them so I would just post them on my story and hope enough people would look at it lol
I like that Manly added that little bit at the end reassuring people that they wouldn't get affected by the chain letter, since there could be young teenagers watching or people who get more affected by this sorta thing.

I like how this feels authentically like something from the mid 2000s without being blatant with the nostalgia bait. The subtle stuff like the limewire icon, scene kids, and invader zim cosplay. The dev really did it nicel.
God bless all the crazy good people that make short horror games everyday 🙏❤
This one unnerved me so bad, from Josh's appearance to the slient Jumpscares to the fact that Chelsea already died when she left... idk it's just really good

@@realjay553 I assume so since she had so many friends + the "something is in my closet" probably was NOT a joke. This is the conclusion I came to but she may be alive still.
There is actually a good ending for this game, but you have to be selective with who you decide to befriend and be quick enough to spam everyone.
Really enjoyed reading the profiles, brings you back to the simpler Internet times. I kinda like the idea of using Petra as a protag in other projects, they don't have to all be the same continuity, so she could die (or survive) in a variety of fun ways, and she's a great character on her own.
the final scare was executed a little TOO good
i absolutely love Petra with all of my heart lol- the fact shes a CG and a scene teenager makes me so happy because the trope of alt people being portrayed as rude or heartless is so boring and overdone, and shes just wonderful HAHA- also- the name "Chelsea" is pronounced "Chel - see", in case you were wondering (i havent gotten too far in the video so im not sure if you correct yourself but ill edit if you had lol)
The jumpscare is really genius, when you're focusing on the text, he just jumped out and scared the fuck out of you even without any sound lol
I really enjoyed this one! I JUMPED when I realized Josh in the closet that first time 😅 What a fun ride this was. I think the art style is really pleasing to look at and I liked the slowburn startup and quick-paced finale! Also... is "KatashisWife" supposed to be Hitoshi-san from Nyan Neko Sugar Girls??? They even have the gray shirt lmao

At first glance i thought it was 2D from Gorillaz but now that you mentioned it...
I wouldn't say it's the best, but the build up was interesting. I liked how the game didn't need to resort to jumpscare to make me tense. I feel sad for the protag and her grandma tho. Yeah, it's a horror game, so happy endings aren't a guarantee, but the two characters were so sweet and likable to me, I didn't want anything bad happening to them.

Also I probably sounded like I was giving a backhanded compliment so let me clarify what I meant - I know with game jams you have to be super fast with what you put out so to make a fairly high quality vn in that amount of time is super impressive!

The most unrealistic thing is MC's family actually respecting her videogame hobby.
Aww I love this premise. Love the scene kid protagonist design- super fun and nostalgic
Kinda sad that casper sent the chain to his grandma even though it's obvious she didn't have enough friends Edit:I just noticed that the one who sent the chain wasn't caspar, sorry for everyone who I misled
My days are instantly better when a manly video is posted
This game is really cool! Also I like the fact if you manage to pause you can see that the grandma got sent the chain mail too, might’ve been me just pointing the obvious but I like how it wasn’t out of nowhere
This was such a gem. The art was very clean and detailed, I’m kind of surprised it was a game jam game with the amount of unique cgs. The slow pace, long build up, subtle jump scares, and the writing for Petra is great you really get to like her and feel for her at the end. Just and all around fantastic game
I love the pacing in this game, the build up of the thing terrorising the protag, the unnerving cuts of silence when the girl looks around cautiously, and the realism of the protagonist trying to talk her way out of dying
This game is so cool!! I love the art style and the difference when it comes to the monster! It's refreshing because it's based on chain letters too!
That’s why my life is the way it is. I never foreword those chain letters on MySpace 😭 15 years of bad luck was right lol
👏EVERY👏JUMPSCARE👏SHOULD👏BE👏LIKE👏THIS👏IT👏IS👏THE👏BEST👏ONE!👏(just the monster no scream just the monster being there)
It takes a bit for the game to pick up in any horror capacity but i gotta say i really like the convo with the friend at the beginning. Its very casual and mundane and it feels.... oddly nice. This is coming from someone who also felt like a bit of an outcast and a loner and primarily socialized online. Sometimes the ppl you know IRL suck and the intetnet lets you find people you actually like and relate to
ngl still miss the "scene" type style from back in those days, like Petra's character portrays. Always found those girls incredibly attractive lol. I was the Goth kid, with the big baggy tripps and death metal tees, but always went for the scene girls. oh that ending, rip..
When I saw the first jumpscare it looked like a skinny goofy guy with a red tf2 party hat XD Also the image by image way it tells the story makes they scary scenes so goofy, like “oh yeah imma walk over to this door with a big spooky guy and shut it no problem”
Gosh petras hair made me so happy, its so cute
I think if they continued stories with Petra, who I really like as a character,She might end up in a ghost like situation where she might interact with Josh more, even actually get a chance to help him possibly or they might have another character like her male friend finding out she died and they interact with dealing with Josh or something else.
Bro these stupid Little threats used to give me SO much anxiety 😭
this game makes me feel old because i remember these things somewhat fondly because they did give me a small rise of addrenaline even tho i didnt believe them.
I feel more sad than scary about this game. Honestly wish good people don't kill in horror story 😭😭😭😭
ahhh. I remember this. This was like a endemic back in the days. I remember that it even spreaded to yt, and yt needed to add restrictions based on spam, due to how many comments there were. Nowadays, you can still find remnants of the chain message endemic. They were rather annoying and the most annoying things are the ones who still survive to this day. But yeah, the point of the chains was essentially like spam, but spread it to other random people. Similar to how email worms work, it tries to send itself to any contact you have on the emails, then once he's there, he spreads it to the target's contacts and so forth. The overly annoying chain messages worked like that.
The jumpscare got me really good. It feels like it only gets the most scary when the jumps are doesn’t have a loud noise rampaging your ear drums although I really like the fact they added a little party hat to the pumpkin outside their door in the end, pretty nice detail
this is actually one of the most unsettling games i've seen. no loud noises, no sudden flashing lights. just eerie silence, when when He shows up
In long time This jumpscare actually got me It actually made me jump for second Well done
absolutely adore this aesthetic and that the scene protag isnt depicted as a stereotypical edgelord but just a nice kid
27:48 Manly really dug into his inner diva for this one
I can't help but feel attached to Petra (not in a weird way!) due to the fact she participates in nostalgic things such as myspaces, and is a genuinely sweet person with writing that isn't forced like an anime protagonist. Seeing all these bad things happen to her HURTTTS
I do believe that Petra will be in another one of the creators projects (A Danganronpa Fangame) they are working on, so that’s why the game gives her a lot of development, the prologue for the game should be coming soon as well so definitely support them.
