  • @chitlitlah

It's not something the judge decided arbitrarily; the law has a definition for fish that includes all invertebrates. Sometimes laws provide definitions for clarity or to alter the definition a bit from common language to make the law more sensible, such as excluding motorized wheelchairs from the definition of motor vehicles so you don't have to get them registered, insured, and operate them on the road instead of the sidewalk. I'm not sure if the legislators intended to lump bees in as fish, but it sounds like the outcome was alright.

Nice video. Been keeping these little beauties for the past 6 years. They are awesome... Only real negative is the smell. Once you get a big colony going, they will start to fight over food and sometimes, they release the worst smelling defensive odor. It smells horrific and can really stink out the whole room! They don't actually spray this fluid into the eyes... I'm pretty sure that is a myth, but they will spray it into the air... Don't worry... You will know when they have done so. Smells like really sour, unwashed, sweaty feet. But, these guys are otherwise so awesome, they are worth it!

Clint, I've been watching you for a minute and I love the channel. Following this video and your strong recommendation I was like, hell with it, and ordered a colony of 8 of these guys...! I admit I'm a bit nervous but I'm going to try to give them the best life I can. Wish me luck!

5:14 Oh jeez bullet ants are nuts! if I recall correctly the Sateré-Mawé people have a coming of age ceremony where the boys of the tribe will wear a "gauntlet" with bullet ants woven into it and they are made to wear this. I could be completely wrong on this (Recalling from old memories), but I'm pretty sure the Sateré-Mawé people were the ones to perform this coming of age ritual. Crazy! On a side note it's so awesome to see you explain away all the parts of the bugs anatomy. I had a wonderful entomology book years and years ago that I was obsessed with it! I was blown away once when I found a small ground praying mantis once in an open dirt field once in California and never thought such an creature would exsist in such a Biome! Props for the education along with the amazing King Assassin bugs!

The water strider comment got me. I was the type of kid who would collect almost any type of insect (or small animal really) and try to keep it as a pet. However, I was trying to figure out if this grocery store had a pond in the parking lot, if you kept in in an aquarium and brought the aquarium in the car with you, or what.

All Canadian Reptile Girl really did a fantastic job. She is a very talented creator. As for the expense of Western African Horrid King Assasin bugs, they are not that expensive. I've gotten so deep into Isopods, I have a colony of Rubber Duckies and they did not come cheap; High-end Isopods are a terrible addiction.
