​@@flameraker6824 No. The Ruchnoi Pulemet Degtyarev, (RPD), was not designed by M. Kalashnikov and has an entirely different tilting-bolt locking mechanism and gas piston assembly.

I think I know what's up with that "windowed" Makarov. The way that metal is discolored and warped suggests to me that that gun was in a fire, and the wooden grips burned away leaving the pistol grip open on the sides.

10:00 honestly, I kind of like it it would probably be pretty good for left-handed people since the charging mechanism is similar to an AR

Fun fact night vision optics aka vampire vision has been around since 1935 made in Germany. Wasn't used until laterish days of operation bobarossa

That belt fed is honestly amazing. It looks to be a spring powered arm cycled by the bolt. Bolt comes back, pushes the arm, which rotates around the long bolt you see, which in turn twists a mechanism that pulls another round into the chamber by...ig a cam connect to the belt. The belt itself looks like it falls apart as it leaves the gun, perhaps the extractor kicks off the chain with the bullet I think it genuinely works and may even be reliable.

Yeah with a 50" projectile you'll need a ballistic computer more like what you'd find on an Iowa-class battleship, but less complex because I don't think it's a good idea to build a warship large enough to carry even one of those guns in a turret, let alone 12 of them in 4 triple-turrets. So it would inevitably be land based and almost certainly a railway gun or coastal installation, making the ballistic computer for it relatively simple in comparison. Really tho the Iowa's fire control systems were an engineering marvel of the time, IIRC the computer was mechanical not electronic, which makes how accurate it was quite impressive even by modern standards.

9:10 Zastava did similar thing. They called it modular gun (I don't know exact name) but it has an AK bolt and an AR charging handle. It is chambered in 2 calibers depending on which barrel is in the gun. 6.5 grendel and 7.62x39.

We had tons of Svt 40’s here in Canada but I haven’t seen any in larger quantities for a few years now and when they do show up they cost around $1200, back when they were everywhere here they were $400-500, so yeah sucks to have missed that opportunity.

My late grandfather was an engineer at corning glass in NY and worked on the team that made nigh vision applications in the 1960s for aircraft, tanks, ships, headgear, and gun sights ect. he passed away early this year and going through his things we found paper work and some parts to his work there, he also apparently engineered the machine that made photochromic lenses or transition lenses the ones that turn dark in sun light for prescription lense, they were the first to do that. Also worked on HUDs for jets and all kinds of cool optical stop for military and NASA use. I wish i knew this when he was alive he never talked about that stuff as im sure when he was there it was classified info so hes trained not to talk about it.

khyber pass has some great guns, and some insanely mindnumbingly dumb guns that are still functional and probably wont blow up on you lol

12:50 I don't know if this gun came from the factory with this muzzle brake, but if it did, it's not an SVT-40, but rather an AVT-40, a full auto version of it. Which makes it even more horrifis, since they are extremely rare.
