Kind of weird for people to be saying they like this, but not metal in general. It's pretty extreme to the point that if you can get into this, you should theoretically be able to get into others. Every rising metal fan needs a gateway band or two to open their eyes to everything the genre has to offer.

  • @BlueRaven893

Yes, my thoughts as well. It is a bit strange that non-metal fans like this. This is apart of extreme metal. It's intense, very fast and vicious, something you would think would push away non-metallers. It's nice to know this is a gateway band, though, to bring in new listeners.

@And Violate If you're referring to me, then, no. I think they are fully capable of understanding it. They may choose not to. As for in the moment? I don't honestly care if they don't understand it or can read into it's meanings. It's most likely because I don't find it hard to figure out things like music.

  • @rapmetaldemon09

@And Violate this actually isn't in my top or anything, I can't really claim to understand it in a profound way. I'm mostly just shocked that some non-metal listeners heard this, and it stuck for them. 10 years ago if someone who didn't like metal heard a band they'd end up enjoying, it would be a nu-metal or metalcore band with a lot of verse/chorus/verse structures and clean singing.

I can probably speak for them. I listen to various metal acts, but I'm by no means a "metalhead". I'm superrrr picky with metal. This album is much more melodic than most other metal albums, but less hyperfocused on Melody and less "cheesy" then most "melodic metal" bands. The best way I can describe this band is "musician's" or "music fanatic's" metal, if that makes sense.

  • @rapmetaldemon09

@@eingyi2500 I see what you're getting at. It's almost technical melodeath in a way. Super progressive and technical, but just melodic enough to stand out from the crowd of various death metal bands trying be the heaviest, and most brutal. All the while avoiding being so melodic it contradicts the idea of death metal. Where casual music listeners can easily grasp the idea of bands like Soilwork and In flames, critical listening non-metalheads may still prefer something as tasteful as this.

Any fast and melodic death metal records like this with deeper, more guttural vocal performance. To my ears, the vocals on this record sound pained (not that that’s a bad thing), while I’m lookin for more imposing, less “human” sounding vocals? If that makes sense?

Shit congrats on a good album. Damn. It's unique hard and, sounds like notes of new stuff, 90s stuff like speed metal and hints of old Mastodon and dystopia. It's hard for me to get into alot of metal these days cause they all sound nearly the same. A+++

I feel very sorry for the poor people who need a "metal review guy" to find music. Just check the labels/records, Encyclopaedia Metallum, maybe "recommended artist" in your music streaming program or go for everynoise.com Advanced: Have pure youtube account for music, keep ur history/likes clean, participate in browser extension trench war, no ads, pay not a cent and get good music, which you can order when you really want to support.

@@flatterswhite a KZreadr only recommends so much, and often specifically to their own tastes. Sputnikmusic, RYM, Reddit, YT comment sections, OP's suggestions, etc. are far more effective at finding metal releases or just music in general - it's better to diversify your sources. Especially if you're someone like me who's constantly exploring music genres. The results are certainly not "the same" lol

Everyone is giving Death al of the credit, but as much as I like Death, listen to Atheist Unquestionable Presence and tell me this sounds nothing like it. Horrendous is badass, right there next to Vektor and Black Fast.

I for one am very intrigued by this release.. And the Atheist comparison is harmonically on, old school note worthy riffing, and leads that soumd like Rand Burkey (almost to a T).... Vocals that sound like Chuck and Benton in certain spots..... Though not as innovative as the obvious, DM needed this tech release that i would call as close to a masterpiece of technical old school DM ive heard in over 25 yrs!! Heres to Horrendous.. Fkn killer!!
