Horowitz plays Rachmaninoff Prelude Op.32 No.12 in G sharp minor

I noticed that the user who uploaded this video a couple of years ago has taken it off youtube (I can't find it anyway). But of course it is way too valuable not to be on youtube, so here it is!

Horowitz is so great! blabla his touch and so forth! * (adds beat in bar 3, adds two beats in bar 9, absolutely love his piano splash in 1:40) Still one of the most pronounced players, with such a distinguished and playful tone..!

@@matthewsouthwell I guess my point mostly is that I love the idiosyncracy of players of old, the way they would approach a piece 'lively', feeling they could experiment with touch and character, making it a heartfelt experience (even adding beats and bars). I can hardly enjoy pianists nowadays, who all seem to play to the same studio/competition standard (everything smooth and fast). It makes me kind of sad. Thnx for asking :)

@@matthewsouthwell Sounds like a case of the bitterness of envy to me.
The ending basically says “no big deal” briefly before he stands up
this is prelude in G SHARP minor
g# minor and Ab (flat) are known as enharmonic equivalents...not as popular as Op.23 number 5 which is the equally brilliant g minor
this is certainly rachmaninoff prelude opus 32 !
Did he just splat the piano 1:39 ?
Hum... I think that this is not the rachmaninoff prelude in G minor
