HORNET 750 - NOT Another «Boring Honda» [QuickTest#25]

I had a Hornet out for a two hour demo ride on Monday and was very impressed, I was considering it as my new commuter but it's so much more than that, the best description I can give it is like an MT-07 that handles with a host of electronic goodies and a far superior finish, I thought I'd discovered a problem as it seemed a bit jerky in town traffic but discovered that the engine braking was set high, after dialling it down the fuelling was perfect, IMO the new budget middleweight king.

Very nice review. I gained a new perspective of the motorcycleI over the other reviews I had watched, and that was valuable. I increasingly see a space in my garage for the Hornet or the Transalp, and my final decision will be based on the test rides when the models become available for test in my part of Central Europe.

One of the reasons I enjoy your reviews is you raise points I haven't seen before. I always thought the handlebars/dash area looked odd but couldn't put my finger on what looked off. It looks barren and the bars too thin. Now that you said it it's all I can see. I don't like the exhaust but love that SC Project aftermarket pipe. What a difference it makes.

I've ordered mine with the quick shifter and heated grips, may get the screen too, though that looks pretty it is a bit small. Looking forward to your review of the Transalp, never know I may swap the NC for that. You see the Hornet is supposed to be for my wife. Its interesting to see how far ai has come already. About the questions at the end of the video, im guessing because you asked "the new honda" it correlated that to "knowing" it is the newly released bike. At the moment it is also impossible for chatgpt to browse the internet, as it was trained with a closed data set. I don't really like its looks, but if I was looking for a 'big' bike in Thailand, I'd consider this. I don't buy aftermarket exhausts, either. Only ever bought one. Really good TFT. Great review, I totally agree that the most significant shortcoming is the styling - especially the headlamp. Honda could have adopted the CB650R/CB1000R styling instead of the CB500F which is neither classical nor bold/fashionable. I'm sure the chatGPT uses crawlers (code that sweeps thousands of web pages to collect info) in order to build its responses - that explains the bland press phrasing. You are a content creator, so you should be safe for decades to come - no PC will match one's creativity and intangible savyness (if that's an English word) and there's also the voice and cadence which would be really hard or at least very expensive to replicate. Not that you asked my opinion, but I would argue a starting rider (especially a young one) should not go above A2-compliant motorcycles for at least two years. I have a different opinion regarding first cars because usually more expensive/powerful ones offer better safety, but with motorcycles, apart from ABS (present in all new motorcycles) you don't get any protection aside from what you wear. Cheers

The Hornet says to me that Honda is finally responding to the spec sheet warriors. The CB1000R needed to be more popular than it was, but it didn't hit the huge numbers that other bikes in the price class did. This is great on a spec sheet, but it feels like there's a couple areas that got very cheap looking compared to what I'm used to from Honda.

I thought it was perfect for me: bars, seat, pegs, everything. I'm quite short at 5ft 8, or in metric, 1.3 Napoleons: The looks over the bars not as extreme as the CB650R - that you said you liked! - You're just too tall for the bike methinks. Which is great! It will suit me perfectly...and lots of women riders....Hurrah! (your wife confirms this truth); 90.5 hp, less than the CB but, as you say, lower max torque - V Gud!; The shorter diameter tyre is a total irrelevance. Good on Honda for doing it. Tyres more important and they're probably the best. Which is great; Reviewers never give a bike less than the beans; TFT looks, and is, one of the best; Please don't dwell on morons who express themselves in immoderate (moronic) ways. They are (almost) universally despised and always ignored; It's not a beginner bike. It's....whatever bhp it has...about 3 less than an Africa Twin for ....goodness sake. It's also light. The CB650 does nothing much up to 7,000 rpm. The fastest I've ridden is !30mph. It scared me. I thought you were AI for the first 2 years. But, I'm a forgiving soul.

The Hornet i borrowed had an obnoxiously loud AR Racing straight through system but laws, neighbours and eardrums not withstanding, it sounded glorious. The package did rather feel like a £7,000 engine with a £500 spent on the rest of the bike but i could live with that i think. I don’t understand why the Transalp 750 costs 3000 euros more than the Hornet. It’s the same bike with fairing. This is all due to the hype of adventure bikes? 😢 You bought the Transalp, have you asked Honda what’s the differences? How do you feel about that. You could make a rant video on the topic 😅

Marketing. Basically, Honda will sell the Transalp for as much as they can get away with, and as adventure riders tend to have more disposable income than urban roadster riders... That said, BMW do exactly the same thing with the F900R & XR.
