Hornby TT 120 LMS/ex LMS locos

Duchess of Atholl is on an up express while the rebuilt Royal Scot is on a parcels train.
The Scot has now received some valve gear, leading bogie wheel moved further forward and will hopefully be finished in a few days time.
The parcel train is made up of the 3 different Hornby models, LMS, BR Crimson and BR maroon.

All running very smoothly. You were liucky Hornby decided to introduce TT:120, as this had given the scale a new lease of life! Thanks for uploading.

There are two ways of looking at it. It did not give the old TT a new lease of life due to the different scale so nothing compatible. However it has brought a new lease of life to 12mm track. What is has given me is the chance to run better looking train lengths, and, far more options coach wise. Locos are still limited but what there is, is fantastic in just 18 months. I am lucky I can do a few conversations but limited so far due to the steam locos available only having 6'8"/6'9" wheels.

@@garryhall5552 What is the limitation of 6'8" wheels?

@@AllensTrains there were only very few locos that used them, most had smaller wheels. My two tanks have them but should only be 5'8", the W/C, A2, V2, Britannia, Standard 5 etc should be 6' or 6'2" so it is a compromise anyway.

Ey the scot is looking brilliant, any chance of turbomotive, lack of valve gear and all that making it easier ?

I had thought about it but the cab is wrong as the spectacle plate should be flat like a Princess. Also the dome is in the wrong place and it needs a double chimney. So, unlikely unless I go for more compromises than normal lol. There are a couple more locos in the pipeline though.

Looks grand. Are you planning on weathering the 21T wagons?

@garryhall5552 yeah I understand, I mean couldn't you use the dutchess chasseur under a 120 princess body and as such turbomotive, I meant easier in fact there's no valve gear for faffing about with which you could use on a different locomotive.

@@gregmacdonald927 thanks Greg, I have thought about weathering the wagons but very poor at it in the past so always done a clean loco/coach/wagon. However, these do seem overly bright and really do need toning down so will be thinking about it.

@@lukeslocos6610 at the moment there is no Princess body available but the chassis I robbed the valve gear and tender chassis from is earmarked for a large tank depending the fit due to the large motor. I am hoping the motor will fit in the cab so at the highest point. The motor size and position do not leave this chassis open to many conversions.
