I have watched thousands of model railway work in progress videos from 100s of KZreadrs and I have to say your grass work is probably the best I have ever seen. I am sick of people using static grass that is too long and looks way out of scale when you bring any figure or vehicle into a scene and also over using it so it looks like the Australian bush. You nailed it!
Thank you. I have no idea why people would watch this and then click dislike.... keep up the good work, thank you guys
When the camera zooms in it looks real life! It doesn't get any better than that.

Hi Mike and Richard Great video, I'm a massive fan of Toppley Dale, it's been a favourite of mine since it's inception. I could watch locos running around it all day. Cheers Paul 👍

Absolutely, positively loving the two layouts guys. I’m very interested in the progress of the O gauge layout especially. We have a few British O gauge modellers here in Australia as part of the BRMA (British Railway Modellers of Australia) of which I’ve been a member for nearly six years with various sized layouts from whole purpose built rooms in houses and sheds to exhibition layouts too! I hope to be among the O gauge community at some point in the future with a GWR layout. I’m already established in OO Scale modelling but I’m working towards my Welsh narrow gauge line in G scale in my backyard. Anyhoo, great video and hoped you’ve had a great Christmas and have prosperous new year in the new decade of 2020. Cheers Caleb

@@NewJunction Your welcome and yes I'm a HO scaller person because I loved HO Scale Trains :)
Yep! Do like the format. As an 00 & 0 gauge modeller it ticks all of my boxes. I think I read previously that the inner curves on the 0 gauge test track are 2nd radius Peco "Set track". Do you find any trouble with buffer locking or have you taken precautions over the couplings used?
@hornbymag
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, the inside line is second radius set track, we don't really have issues with buffer lock but some couplings have been adjusted to suit.

The steam crane could do with a remote control so the piston can move and so the crane jub and chain can move

Blooper Alert! 8:53 faux pas! D1006 is Western Stalwart not D1036 which I think Mike said - so hopefully that is not the number he read off the cabside! Great video otherwise guys! Oh, and a very Merry Christmas to Richard and yourself - keep up the good work!
A pity you didn’t run the black 5, I would have liked to have heard the sound effects. I enjoyed the video, however, is there any chance of you doing/videoing some working micro layouts in the future ? Thanks, Mel.

Hi, I have a Marklin set with several locomotives, cars, lines etc. It is a big set. I'm thinking to build a small layout in my apartment and for space restrictions just a swich yard lay out. The problem is that I received two american style engines which I like more than the Marklin set which I will give to my grandchilds. One of the engines is Bachman and the other is Athearn. I have not the power supply nor the control device. Questions: 1) Can I operate both engines with the same P.S? 2) Which is the DC voltage for these engines? Thanks for your patience and kind regards. Jose Rybertt
What smoke unit is in the A4?
Which smoke unit is that in the A4
Goes without saying that the A4 looks Amazing! Please could you publish a “set-up” procedure from wiring, (colours etc) through to the CVs and parameters to make smoke like that? I have written to HORNBY to suggest they design the chassis of their products to leave space to site a smoke unit. They’ve taken the content of my letter seriously as it’s been passed on to the design team. Best wishes. Happy Christmas to all. Robert

do you have a track plan for this layout but for oo gauge
Was that an old HO scale Playcraft (Jouef) NBL Class 21 leading the EE type 3 (Class 37) coal train in a double header??!!

where is that? there's the type 3 (37) with a brake tender in front at 5:40: is that the one?

Is HO the same as OO
what was behind the decision to build the layout at such a great height? usually waist height is the norm but this looks to require operators to stand in order to see the layout.
@hornbymag
4 жыл бұрын
Theres actually three layouts, the 'OO' gauge Topley dale on top, the 'O' gauge test track in the middle and the garden 'O' gauge storage loop on the floor. We'll show you more of that in the warmer months. 😅
@muir8009
4 жыл бұрын
I actually think there's a substantial amount at 4' or above, most US layouts tend to be for standing height, often around the 5' height for eye level. I think the term 'norm' in relation to layout height is a bit old school as layout heights now really have to incorporate a lot more personal variables dependent on location and design. with the advent of prioritising aesthetic realism and shelf style track design eye height tends to be predominant.
where did you get those awesome o gauge trains? i love that steam engine you showed in that little clip the most.
