Hornady Auto Charge Pro vs Autotrickler

Спорт

We had planned to compare the new Hornady Auto Charge Pro and the V3 Autotrickler, but this was pretty much a David vs Goliath situation if David wasn’t so good with a sling shot, blind and missing both arms.
Having said that, at a third the price, or less, is the Hornady good enough for most people?

Cheers Michael. I've loaded twice since we filmed this, so need some more time with the unit, but happy so far.

The most accurate way to test a auto charger is to take 5 or more charges, record each one, add them up and measure all 5 (or more) together as one measurement. All combined, they should equal to the sum of each separately added together. Whether its the million dollar scale or the Hornaday or any other, this, in my opinion would be the most accurate way to test any scale. Don't forget to use test weights 😉 Great video, BTW!

I use one to measure out the base amount, then trickle up on beam scales, I'm usually with in 0.05gn on the hornady unit.

With my 223 ammo 0.1 gr. variance of CFE223 @ 200 yds. is approx. 1/10th of an inch difference in POI. Not very much to worry about.

Putting the Hornady in the low speed setting makes it more accurate, but it does take longer to complete each charge.

7:25 that's not how that works, you would still need a scale accurate enough to measure beyond +/-0.1 grains. Accuracy of +/-0.1 grains means if your scale reports back 39.9 grains, that means it is +/- 0.1 grains from 39.9 grains (39.8 ~ 40.0). Even if you trickle up manually from 39.9 grains till the Hornady Display shows 40 grains, it is still +/- 0.1 grains from 40 grains (39.9 ~ 40.1).

Holy cow the exchange rate is insane. I don't remember paid that amount for the auto trickler v3. It was around $1200 for me but that was 4 years ago. At the time the balance was only $700

Hornady scales are very finicky. I found the rcbs match master to be faster and more accurate then Hornady. Non the less I sold both and moved to a real scale. Wont give my fx120i up for anything. I'm sure the cost is alot more down anda

Ditto this. I have a V3 autotrickler and it is miles ahead of anything except maybe the prometheus, but those are $5,000 US.
