Thanks! It was completely ad-lib but came out pretty well!
Love how Phillip Alexander has the Nürburgring in his office. Love Alexander trumpets!
This is so cool. The whole Alexander team seem like very nice people :)
I love their tubas! There's just a certain magic to the Alex sound that no other maker has ever quite reached.

I agree with you, Sir. Really good quality. For Example, Tuba Cc 163 is the best! And in further time I'll change my tuba F, model PT-9 from B&S to Alexander Mainz.
Oh my gosh Sarah Willis is my horn crush 😍📯

Does she make you... ...Horny?
I don't play this kind of horn, but this is keeping me wide awake. Fascinating, even with the language barrier and his relatively shy personality trying to explain everything. When I played in a brass band, I cleaned the instrument when it was loaned to me, for hygiene reasons, used Vaseline to grease the slides afterwards, and never again in the many years the instrument was in my possesion, and I only ever oiled the (piston/perinet) valves whenever they were sticking. Don't be this lazy if you spend good money on your own instrument. A little oil regularly is far better than trying to use a lot of oil when it's already too late. A bit of metal polish on the slides themselves and a little elbow grease might get them back to their brassy colour before greasing, and remove any abrasiveness they might have.
Thanks for the upload!
As an Instrumentbuilder, a part of the video i liked was "don't remove the valves" ; ). There is more to the Valvesection than one might think.
A fabulous series! I love Sarah's personality and of course she's an absolute ACE on the horn.
I am about to play the French horn. I am in 6th grade and i am going to be playing the French horn.

Thanks for the post video.
thank you sarah
Sarah, you are such a good cheerleader, in the best possible sense. Such a SMILE! I'm pretty sure some girls have taken up the horn because of your infectious enthusiasm.
It's nice to see that the horn makers themselves use the same techniques I came up with as a kid :) I guess it's common sense
Ive been playing the horn almost all my life but Im learning so much :roto2:
Thanks! I've considered getting an Alexander for a long time, but in America, many say they are too bright in sound.
Hiya Sarah, wonderful videos, keep up the good work and creativity! I am wondering what's best to clean an unlaquered brass French Horn with, to remove grease off of fingers, etc. At the moment I'm using baby wipes but I'm not sure if they're the ideal, or whether maybe alcohol wipes (like screen cleaner wipes or something like that) would be better or worse, or whether possibly something else easily obtainable? When I first bought this French Horn (used) it was disgusting!! But I gave it a thorough clean with car shampoo and a gentle sponge and it came up reasonably well. I did initially think of washing up liquid but I think it has salt in it as well as the soapy stuff, hence the car shampoo.

Cảm ơn cho bài video.
I don't know if this comment will get to you but one thing I've seen regarding leadpipes is periodically cleaning them using rubbing alcohol
Dear Sarah, what is the name of the horn duet? that introduces your horn hang out, and, where can I get the music I love your sound.
It always horrifies me to think about all the elementary school kids who's parents buy them a nice french horn, then the kids neglect to properly lubricate and clean it.

I think elementary school and lack of proper cleaning and lubrication go hand in hand. But it surprises me how many people aren't taught proper horn maintenance in elementary school, either.
We put the water only out the third valve
How can I line up the rotor valves?
Work hardening the brass to get a sharper tone. That's one of the differences between a cheap $400 french horn and a $9,000 french horn.
And to think that I use to think horn players were boring. Not anymore.
i use cod liver oil on my slides
Which model of Alexander do the players in Berlin Phil use?

Horn Maintenance Question: Is there any risk when switching over from conventional rotary valve oil (mineral oil based) to synthetic valve oil?
@ryanhorwitz417

Jess Stuart I believe they freeze each other up if they come in contact with each other. Make sure you remove one type of oil before you put the new oil

Why not Horn Hangouts onesies? 🥰 I've just started to take French Horn classes with my 4-month-old baby in a sling! And she enjoyed it, she even slept during the first lesson. ❤️
