VERY Perceptive!! That was taken right after Hurricane Matthew. The Dream's cruise was cancelled and they were sitting waiting till the next day (I think) for a new load of guests.

I love this concept of ship horn battles..this is so cool between 2 disney ships...i wonder do they learn to do this begore taking cpmmand of these ships..like is it protocol when in port alongside another disney ship or others..really cool.and from what i c and hear others seem to enjoy it too..good job disney cruoses..keep up good work with the horns..lol..enjoy everyone whos cruising..

The horns are programs they run reduced in simplicity to a mere button push on a control panel. The bigger ships have multiple songs but the original Magic and Wonder still have only 'When you wish upon a star'. We have been sailing DCL since 2004 and they always seem to talk to one-another like this. It is pure entertainment joy! My favorite ever was when we were in St Thomas in 2005 and there were several ships in port. The non-Disney ships got into a horn battle blasting out long deep toots. After nearly 15 minutes of it the Magic blatted out the famous song and silenced them all. I don't know if we just ended the battle as the whole thing kept escalating or what but we not only heard cheers from on board, you could hear cheers all the way into that shopping area and up on Paradise point. It was a LOT of fun!

That was really cool. And I love the views of this beautiful world we live in with the horns blaring threw the open skies. Amazing !!!

I love this so much 😍 We were on Magic in January. We were at Grand Cayman with Fantasy and we were all hoping for a horn battle. No such luck. But it was still neat to see two Disney ships so close together.

Wouldn't have been a fair horn battle anyway. Magic only plays "When You Wish Upon a Star" and nothing else. Fantasy horn had a bigger repertoire

I BELIEVE the Dream and Fantasy use some kind of electronic horn whereas the smaller original ships Magic and Wonder use air based horns.

Mostly... bar drinks are extra, of course, but there is a free drink station on the pool decks of all the Disney ships that is awesome! If you travel concierge more is included, of course. In all our cruises we have done quite a few concierge cruises and every time it comes out to only about 10% more for ten times the service once all the extras (including two complimentary happy hours each day) are all accounted for.

Yes, it was an unusual situation. Following Hurricane Matthew, the Fantasy came in to port a day late due to the storms. A cruise was also cancelled on the Dream so she sat empty till her next cruise the day after (Monday). Additionally, due to the modified "daytime hours only" policy for the Port that day the Fantasy had to wait till after 7 am to enter the port which afforded this great opportunity for an incoming horn battle in the daytime hours!

We pulled in to port around 8am and the gangway opened shortly after. The whole schedule for the day's change ended up being about 3 to 4 hours late, though. Normally people are all off shortly after 9am but I don't think it was done till nearly NOON that day!

Are cruise ships more stable than ferry’s?

Yes, cruise ships are FAR more stable than most ferries. All the cruise ships I have been on have elaborate stabilization systems that also include large underwater 'wings' that help smooth out the ride. Disney Cruise Line uses their stabilizers more than most cruise lines which results in the smoother ride. Also, the larger ships are simply less susceptible to the effects of waves simply because their hull can span more waves and balance out the whole ride. Of course this will vary with the distance between the peaks of the waves or the "period" of the waves.

@@bdogplayz6984of the 160+ nights I have spent on cruise ships there were only three nights that could even remotely fall into that category having any effect on my bouncing around the ship. That was on the first half of our 6 nights crossing the Atlantic for our Trans-Atlantic cruise. Even then, it was not that too terribly bad as there are hand rails everywhere to hold. If you are susceptible to getting seasick be sure to take normal precautions. Some use over the counter meds and others use prescription. On of my favorite travel families with whom I travel frequently swears by their magnetic bracelets, as well.
