This Tech Tip Tuesday is brought to you by Luke and Horizon Hobby. Luke is an avid pilot and realized early on that his garage (aka Hangar) was quickly getting overwhelmed with his planes. He implemented a quick and easy system for storing his planes using simple PVC pipe connectors, pipe, and basic tools that can be purchased at a local hardware store.
Luke’s Recommended Materials:
• (8) 12 inch lengths of ½ inch PVC pipe
• (2) 6 inch lengths of ½ inch PVC pipe
• (6) 8 inch lengths of ½ in PVC pipe
• (4) 1.5 inch lengths of ½ inch PVC pipe
• (8) ½ inch PVC end caps
• (8) ½ inch PVC T’s
• (4) ½ inch PVC 90’s
• (2) ¾ inch EMT one-hole clamps
• (2) sheet rock screws
• (2) washers
Tools Luke Used:
• Hack Saw
• Level
• Phillips Screwdriver
• Rubber Mallet (optional)
• Stud Finder (optional)

Just an addendum: A dedicated pvc cutter makes faster and cleaner cuts and can be found cheaper than a hacksaw if you don’t already have one.

We done, but I also saw another kind of rack on your wall that also interests me but you never mentioned a word about it. I'm referring to those single rods model supports?

Will this work for other stuff besides micro or would I need to step up to larger pvc?

This is a very helpful video, but I don't understand making racks for micros when you're better off keeping the boxes for transport and storage. Showing the dimensions for racks for the 1100 or 1200 series would make a lot more sense, at least to me.

GBLynden's RC in my case, I very rarely travel with my micros and don’t have the extra room for that many boxes. I fly all of my micros in my front yard. I certainly keep all of the boxes though because you’re right, they are the best for taking them to and from.

For my heavier nitro planes I stepped up to 1" pipe for 40-60 size.

Hacksaw? How about a PVC cutter...safer, faster and cheaper.
