Horizon 3 - 10 Things We Want

Guerrilla Games and Sony have accomplished incredible things with Horizon, getting the series off to an excellent start with Zero Dawn and then making huge improvements to an already solid foundation with the recently-released Forbidden West.
The latter, of course, is still not even a month old, which means it's going to be several years before we even hear a whiff about a third mainline Horizon game- but there is, of course, going to be a third mainline Horizon game. When it comes, we're hoping that it continues the series' upward trajectory, and we do have some particular ideas in mind for how we want it to do that. Here, that's what we'll be talking about.

    I agree with everything except co op I just want horzion 3 to be single player only I only like single player story driven games not multiplayer co op online nope

    @@mazebankMK2 it's just this is coming from someone who only likes story driven games I personally don't like multiplayer, souls, co op, online, live service, or mirotransations in games I only like story driven single player games so I want horzion 3 to just be single player only and not feature stupid multiplayer accepts. Nope no thanks

    It could easily be a choice to play multi or single. As long as they dont screw it up it could be easily smoothed over from 1 to 2 players.

    1. Underwater weapons like a harpoon or spear gun. 2.underwater ridable machine. like a mechanised shark that you can ride.

    Don't give us underwater combat. Horizon's controls do not suit underwater traversal, let alone underwater combat.

    I want a real workbench where you can mix and match peices of weapons and choose your ammo types. Something kinda like the weapon creator in deadspace 3. It would fit perfectly with horizon’s gameplay.

    Worst thing is getting all the available legendary items and not one has a certain type of ammo, aka the berserker arrows. Or the combo weaves being half wasted on nearly any of them and not the best choice for the few others. I have so many unused weave slots just cuz. Not boutta grind for random drops when there's so so SOOOOO many weaves any 1 machine can drop. Co op. Yes please. Custom armor, custom machines, let me override a small army if I can't have a squad. Just restrict me from using it in story line quests as any of my other machines are anyways. But free roam? Lmao I wanna summon 3 beasts 😂

    I would like a larger city location like San Francisco, I loved the mission where I hunted down rebels in the skyscrapers I was flying around the building jumping in and out after beating them up I felt like some kind of superhero, this would open a lot of opportunities for parkour, aerial combat and grapple traversal.

    I'm 100% down you should be able to choose your ammo. It doesn't make any sense for her to be tied to most weapons

    The workbench should pull from inventory AND stash, I hate going back and forth to restock on blast paste or something

    Full companion features. I realy like the companions in Forbidden west butvits a shame they are 80% of the time in school at tha base. I should be able to bring one along and each companion has a niche. Then you could swap a human companion for a Custom machine that I can deck out.

    I love this idea - I felt the same way about companions and I was even saying to a friend that I love that they upgraded companions to actually do damage - couldn’t have beaten the game without da-crew!

    I am very fond of the NPCs and I hope Horizon will expand their combat value so you would feel their presence in combat. I barely felt the contributions of anyone in the games. It would be pretty cool if each companion had a different style to make them unique. I could imagine Erlend being melee, Zo's connection with plowhorns translating to summoned machines or Alva focus translating to scanning enemies and producing the appropriate resources for Alloy to pick up.

    I just beat this an hour ago. I REALLY want to see a Horus/Titan/Metal Devil ALIVE!! If we can't have it as a boss at least see it in action at some point. Also a skill should be if you pulse your focus, it marks human enemies and keeps them marked. Several rebel camps took forever to complete because I couldn't find the last straggler enemy and they never came out even though I was in plain view and making noise. I would rather build on a few weapons then to have 6 of each type that all do different things. I only used the acid blastling, a spike thrower and 1 bow. One more thing, it would be cute if the mounts were friendly like pets =) not just tamed.

    We need a living (or reactivating) Horus, and we need one of those dual-barrel railgun tanks nearby that’s intact enough to use the turret to chip critical components off of it while it reactivates to put it back down in the nick of time. Maybe use it to one-shot waves of Scarabs it sets loose. Can’t have it getting mobile. A single fully-operational Horus would pose an existential threat to the entire planet in its current state of technology-any machine Gaia or Hephaestus threw at it would get hacked and taken over.

    I do think that as you become a more experienced hunter, the game should let you customize the individual type of arrows for each weapon socket. Letting the player build their own ammo types for their bows would allow people to use their own playstyles and have a more versatile loadout.

    I would like for bigger city. Perhaps flying combat. You can do all sorts of things now since the third game will be Ps5 only.

    I find the override feature wasn't as good as it could have been. I rarely used it, and even when I did it had to be in a very specific situation.

    I'd like to see some building/restoration mechanics, like Ezio's manor in AC2 or Geralts vineyard in Witcher 3. It would make sense, story-wise, to build and expand a base of operations. The Regional Command Center in Forbidden West was sort of a step in the right direction, but it was still mostly a static location.

    I love alot everything you brought up I even thought they needed to give different endings based on your choices the only thing I would say leave out of the next is a co-OP mode the game is great as a single player experience and I would love to see it stay that way

    How do you feel about a post DLC CO OP? Meaning once you've fully beat the game and it's DLC an option to add a second player is added and that player can be anyone in the story with their own unique weapons/techniques. This 2nd player could help you fight machines, find loot that is added to your stash when they leave, they coukd help you explore anywhere in the world, help you get metal flowers, long necks, and anything else you have yet to finish that can get you to 100% the game faster.

    Full customisation of outfits. I like the style of some outfits very much, but never used them as they didn't fit my way of playing.

    Given the RPG options i would have like customization system for weapons, and actually see the upgrades. Farming the materials isn't easy. Just see a loading screen and the bow reminds looking the same, just the stat changing. Is kind of underwhelming. Be able to paint different parts of armor or even use different parts together

    More aerial combat and in general more freedom in everything. The air should be a priority as well. The underwater sections were great as they were. No need for underwater combat but in air combat.

    1. I think the tutorial of the next game should be with us in control of Beta. Aloy has too much experience and to nerf her for a tutorial in the final game would be silly. You could also develop Beta's skills further throughout the game with a series of side missions. The results being seen in the final mission; if Beta is taught to fight she can be seen alongside you, if not she hides behind a rock whilst another teammate protects her. The relationship between the sisters may not seen important to some but i think it would really show how much Aloy has grown as a person since the first game. 2. Have Beta be a voice in your ear providing advice and relaying information to Aloy. One aspect could be Beta looking into machine designs in more detail and unlock new weaknesses in machines that the focus doesn't pick up right away. 3. Custom made weapons the choice in FW is huge but being able to design weapons that take your favourite ammos would be amazing. No searching through your inventory to find a weapon that has the ammo you need. 4. Upgrades from Beta. Beta is an engineer at her core having her design and improve everyone's gear would be the best use of her skills. Aloy has a range of different armours and carries enough weapons to take down an army. Having the other members of the team get upgrades too would be great. New environmental blocks like the firegleam could also be solved in this way. 5. A communications option in the menu. FW established the network but you had to travel to the base to talk to anyone. This would be a minor feature but not including it would not make sense.

    I was really confuse why I can’t override machines underwater as I don’t see why Aloy can’t override machines when her hand is free and it doesn’t really stop her from overriding like when flying or riding a machine.

    Oh and one more thing you didn't mention. The ability to change the camera distance. It would be nice if we could pull the camera back away from Aloy a bit or move it back in as desired. Having the camera stuck at a fixed distance Kind of sucks. Yeah, we can change the fov which helps a little bit but it's not quite the same thing and a bit cumbersome since you have to pause and go to the settings menu to do that.

    I would love a choice system in the next game since it will probably be the final one and the ending can vary. I'd also love more options to control machines, maybe a parry for the melee, combo takedown with allies, trading ammo types with certain weapons so you can use weapons with the best stats with your favourite element combos, maybe some more elemental effects to the spear, maybe make take some notes from elden ring, maybe grapple on to enemies with the pull caster for melee strikes on aerial machines

    1. aerial combat 2. underwater combat 3. an "explorers" skill tree that allows you to unlock things like faster climbing, longer slides, and other traversal related things. 4. weapon customization 5. different hairstyle options for aloy lol kinda like witcher where you go to the barber for a touch up.

    I also see a need to decouple the upgrade process for weapons and outfits. Upgrades should be of four types: level; damage; slots; and ammo. A general level upgrade would improve all existing and potential stats. Damage upgrade would increase damage for all existing or potential ammo types. Slot upgrade would just add another slot. Ammo upgrade would add another type of ammo. Each weapon and outfit would have its own restrictions in respect of what ammo types could be added and limits on how far each of the other upgrades could be taken which related to its rarity status: common, rare, very rare, and legendary.

    It would make sense as the next logical step if Aloy could give commands to "tamed" machines. I can't imagine anything beyond basic stuff like "follow me, wait/hide, scan here, attack" but having the option would expand the combat and make it so you could tackle the game any which way. It could also make underwater combat more interesting if they do give Aloy tools she could use for that. Maybe letting her hang on to the side of aquatic machines as they swim could make traversing water so much less of a chore.

    It would be nice to use the sword and shield that rebel champions and leaders use, to help make the melee combat more dynamic

    For horizon 2 we got to fly so it would make Obvious sense for you to have a machine that can traverse the oceans, also to be able to ride 70 percent of machines, we definitely need the ancient armor just like the first game also the weapons like the first one like ice rail, the storm bird shooter and the fire thrower, the best of both games in the 3rd one, if they do this I'm too sorted.

    and have most of thier attacks triggerable while ridding i thinks ist was a missed change that you can ride sunwings bristlebacks and clawstriders but dont cen use thier ranged attacks only some melee that why i hope to see rideable machine with triggerable ranged attacks in horizon 3

    Only thing I want is to be able to ride a snapmaw underwater, fly a better bird (dreadwing or storm bird) and mount a much larger mount like a behemoth or thunderjaw which is pushing it

    Move the story to Asia or Europe. Australia 🇦🇺 🤔🤔 Make it make sense where this time the new character is in contact with aloy, or aloy is watching kinda like how sylens was watching aloy. Aloy can't be everywhere fixing the problems around the world.

    For my part I'd like to see a mechanic, where aiming bows switches to first person view. Can't count how many times I've had to reposition because a part of the vegetation suddenly and unrealistically obscured my view of the target while aiming. Maybe changing point of view will help. Haven't tried that.

    I mean they’re making a live service horizon game so maybe wait a bit Leave horizon games single player I don’t want multiplayer or co op to touch these games. It’s how it started that’s how it should end.

    as for coop we now have a roster of main characters (those who stay in base) who we may want to use other than aloy. and that kind of attachment to character are not available during 1st game

    - Remote override machines in stealth to be able to override multiple machines at once, and to make stealth a little less of a waiting game. - Stalker stealth generator for stealth players that recharges for use once per combat area, or maybe allow recharging but add infrared vision to machines to counteract it being too overkill - If birds are going to be a mount option in the next game, a maybe 20% smaller map in the land area and focus more on some vertical environments - Less rebel camps, just less missions in general also. The amount of content is massive. Horizon Zero Dawn took me 80 hours to complete, and that without much playing around outside of missions. Then for Forbidden West I must of been at about 80 hours and still had at least 20 more hours to go to complete the game, again without exploring all that much outside of missions. Just hone in on the story, because that is what really makes the game unique in my opinion. Try to tie missions to lore while trying to add a creative twist to most of them.

    Focus more on the past and zero Dawn and the battle, that’s what I’m the most interested in. More codexes and audio transitions, more old world ruins to explore, more old zero Dawn and far zenith structures to explore and more datapoints to find out more about nemesis and please let us work together with vast silver

    You might be on to something with the weather idea. That was my line of thinking with the Zero Dawn DLC, Aloy's constant complaining of the cold but she doesn't freeze to death.

    Why are some machines mounts and others not? I want to ride a thunderjaw and fly a stormbird. I want to use a scrapper like a donkey to carry more stuff…

    Can agree with everything, can addto this only: An expanded Character Progression System with more Skill Trees and wider variety of Skills n Talents for each Skill Tree that basically represents a "Job Class". Horizon 3 should offer more Job Classes, they dint make usage of all potential there is into this aspect of the Game. H2 FW had "only " the Hunter Path, the Infiltrator Path, the Survivor Path, the Machine Master Path, the Warrior Path and lastly the Trapper Path. For H3 I want to see this getting expanded to 13 Jobs: - Hunter Path - Ranged Combat Speciality - Warrior Path - Close Combat Speciality - Infiltrator Path - Stealth Speciality - Survivor Path - Healing and Stat Growth Speciality - Machinist Path - Heavy Weapon & Machinery Speciality - Trapper Path - Trapping Speciality - Tinkerer Path - Crafting & Tool Speciality - Pathfinder Path - Exploration Speciality - Scavenger Path - Looting Speciality - Trader Path - Mechant Speciality - Tamer Path - Machine & Animal Control Speciality - Tactician Path - Debuffer & Buffer Speciality - Diver Path - Underwater Combat Speciality H2 FW didnt make really usage of all the potential the IP Horizon has a game, sure, the Character Progre4ssion in part 2 was much better than in the first game, but still imo lackluster and could have been more. Hopefully H3 will give us in regard of this more options, to gain n learn alot more helpful skills n talents to make playing the game more comfortable.

    Co-op and choice/consequence have become the cliches of action rpgs. I much prefer the way Horizon confidently tell its story and provide a singular single player experience. For me the most needed improvements are combat movements (more way of dodges, parrying, blocking, sprint, longer jumps, etc. Because some combats gets really frustrating since you have no efficient way to avoid an enemy that has throwed himself on you); and the whole interface and power/gear change - they should do something like ghost of tsushima and spiderman 2 did, making combinationg of buttons to quick access powers and skills. In horizon you need to pause and scroll some menu everytime tou have to make some choice about what power of skill to use and it is such a chore

    1 - Remove Stamina 2 - Strength Aloy stagger box 3 - No Tallnecks to be locked behind a story progress. 4 - Have Tallnecks actually clear the damn map area it is in not slightly clean it up. 5 - Bring back long roll dodge. 6 - Mods and Weaves being scaled with whatever level difficulty you are on. No green, or blue mods/Weaves in untra hard.

    The shield wing should double as a shield. This gives you at least two more defensive options (guard against bigger attacks and deflect 'smaller' short and long range attacks) instead of just spamming dodge all the time. It can lose its charge when it takes a certain amount of damage and be rendered useless forcing you to change your tactics. It should also be upgradable.

    I would like to see a system where the machines in the next game would evolve and change to over come the actions and attacks of alloy and other characters to make the players need to change weapons and strategies in between flights or mid flight, maybe Nemesis would be able to use a smaller version of the printing system on each machine as a lore reason for the change.

    @@DraGanix33 Your idea is good, have the machines use the parts and weapons of other machines, as for my idea maybe it could be locked a new class of machines so the idea is there but not every flight in the game. How do you think Aloy and Beta will use Apollo and how do you think introducing it will affect the world, like how will the tribes react to learning to full history of the old ones?

    I wanna see some sort of playable flashback showing how the Titans came to be. Maybe a military battle in San Francisco (from the perspective of one of the black box pilots) with the Titan that destroyed the Golden gate bridge. It would be epic!

    No co op wanted here. But combat machines could be solved with the aspect of the agressive setting. If i set my bristleback to agressive i want to be able to call it in during a fight and him kick ass. Or if i leave my agressive sunwing circling on one side of the canyon he should open fire on any enemy in his path

    I want special weapons that you can use underwater, and more underwater machines. I also want underwater swimming be smoother and easier, now it's very clumpy and hard to control, especially when snapmaws are trying to kill you. That adding another reason to get underwater weapons

    I think they handled it perfectly. Your choices do matter in cutscenes but dont affect the outcome. Which i prefer. Its so relaxed and you can choose what you feel is best. In witcher for example i chose what gave me the most satisfying ending or the most rewards. So its not really a choice either. It just makes you anxious that you could mess up your save.

    Different melee weapons: light and heavy. Blue prints: I want to build weapons and armor from scratch. Focus hacking: some information's were to easy to get. Apollo trainings unit: all of humanity's knowledge. Use it wisely!

    Here’s what I’m predicting so far: The main location/setting of the game will be wherever the Quen Empire is located. I’m not sure if it has been officially confirmed but my guess is either China or Italy. Aloy will have taught Beta some combat and survival skills but she will become more like a Deviner when meeting the Quen. Nemesis will take the form of an Android human but will upgrade itself into a more monstrous form as the game goes on. Seyka will return and Aloy will struggle with her mission and her feelings with Seyka. If we get some more impactful choices and consequences, I can see them doing an option where you have to choose between saving Beta or Seyka. Though I hope not. I’d hate to have to choose between them.

    I wouldnt mind it being Co Op, but as long as its kinda like how Tom Clancy did it, You can Choose to play alone or Play with others I think most games should do that as i wouldn't mind playing in the Horizon World With Friends

    They should add upgradeable mounts where you can unlock more weapons slots and change it's armor/color. They could start you off with 3 weapon slots and require you to have a mount with you to have more.

    I had some gripes with the story telling / Characters. I just wish they would make Aloys character more likeable. It seems that in Forbidden West her attitude, even towards the friends she found in Zero Dawn, was lacking basic human decency and she sorta became a marry sue who could do anything without any issues. In the first one she had all sorts of shortcomings that made her more believable

    In the first game they had a reason for her being cold and rude to others because she was raised as an outcast and treated as one. But by the end of the first game she makes new friends and gets some good group of friends. I thought in the second game she would be a little more friendly and ask for help from her friends but she for some reason has to act like she could do everything in the world on her own and be a one man army type. It's a very strange character development they have done but by the end of the second game, she sees that friends and Allies are needed to save the world and she cannot save it all on her own. During the first forge mission with Erend she takes him with her and they do the mission together and afterwards other characters tell us that Erend was so happy that Aloy asked for his help and would tell the mission story twice a day. I think Guerrilla games are aware of this character Trait of Aloy and are building towards changing it in the third one.

    I want to be able to make Zenith style weapons and armor. I'm not saying I hate the whole primal style but more diversity would be awesome. Let's not forget that Aloy will be fight an entity from beyond the stars. If it drove the zeniths away you know it's going to be trouble.

    I don't want a co-op exactly. I would like it as an extra mode in the game. Like "Ghost of Tsushima did with there multi player. That'd be good enough for me. 👍

    Although coop in Horizon 3 would fun to play, they would be sacrificing half the detail of visuals and probably other areas to save resources, and for that reason I hope Horizon 3 a single player experience.

    For underwater combat, I think it would be unrealistic to use a bow. I think it would be better if they added another weapon type like a harpoon that would excell in underwater combat. It would make it more realistic and fun I think. A harpoon would interesting too, because it could be used to pull parts or plates off and towards you.

    Less work to upgrade weapons and armor. I put more hours on that from green to legendary than anything else. And then gave up on some because I took down 15 Fireclaws but no sac webbing. And the melee system could use a bit work too

    Three things I want in the next game. 1. Smoother movement over terrain. Make the surface Aloy walks/runs on a lot smoother in terms of movement. Just let Aloy's feet move through small solid objects so it doesn't hinder her movement. I absolutely loathe how she could get stuck on something small that a regular person would be able to step/run over. I can forgive it in Zero Dawn as it was the first game. It should have been improved in Forbidden West but it wasn't. The next game NEEDS to fix this. 2. Improve the third person camera during combat. Why can't they make solid objects behind Aloy transparent? It's so annoying when it obscures the player's vision when aiming because of how third person perspective works. 3. Improve the interactive environment. Forbidden West tried and it was a good effort but the things the player could interact with to help them in combat wasn't very intuitive. Like, I would try and shoot something that was hanging with the intention to drop it on top of an enemy and it rarely worked. I mean, Aloy talks to herself all the time. This is probably a good way to give the player some feedback. For example, Aloy aims at the rope holding up a crate and as soon as an enemy walks right under it, Aloy says something like, "Time for nap, permanently". The system just needs better player feedback. A visual indicator would also work, like enemies that can get hit by environmental traps, for example, would be highlighted. Come on Guerrilla Games, you guys invented the focus for crying out loud. Aloy can see everything with that thing.

    I would like to see more mounterbal machines introduced as I don't see many in either game plus the ability to carry over weapons and armor. For example the shield amor would have been great in forbidden west. Just an opinion.

    I think they should make the big bad a clone of Ted Faro. Aloy already hates this guy and Id love to see the two go at each other. Then you make the final boss fight a clone of Aloy. Imagine fighting someone who has all your abilities and weapons, including all the valor surges. Damn that’d be a good fight..

    I dont know about doing faster the climbing i mean i like it cause it makes it a little more realistic like for example one difference between zero dawn n forbidden west that make me mad when fighting but i kind of like it its when a machine knock u down it takes more time to aloy to get up and respond yeah when fighting its frustating cause machines are attacking n u wann move fast but i like it cause it feel a little more real 😅

    Let me import the game save from "Forbidden West", and with that eliminate most of any required skill learning / levelling. I have no doubt they will further extend the skill tree, and replace some, but I don't want to restart on zero. That would feel very wrong. Also, I want Aloy to deepen the relationship to Beta, as she is - for all intents and purposes - her twin sister. I want more family dynamic... and of course a romantic happy end (and yeah I don't care if male or female).

    Originally Horizon Forbidden West was going to be a PS4 only game. Guerilla can utilize the stealth mechanics from The Last of Us Part 2.

    Really doubt it Forbidden West started production when Guerrilla Games had already PlayStation 5 development kits with them plus they cannot utilize any mechanics from The Last Of Us Ellie's Journey because they are built on entirely different engines

    1. Agree 2. Improved stealth? What do you want to be improved here? You talk about having improved stealth then talk about better AI in human enemies 3. Undercover combat sounds like a good idea at first but if you think about it it makes no sense as it’s impossible to draw and shoot a bow underwater the way you do it on land. The most devs can do here is allow aloy to use her spear to perform silent strike. 4. Agree 5. Is already possible to summon small/medium machiens to fight along side you. Override a Clawstrider in aggresive mode and he’ll fight with you. Sure you cannot override big machiens like Tremortusk but i feel it’s not needed. 6. Agree. Nice feature to have 7. weather having an impact on gameplay or machiens overcomplicates things. I don’t mind if we don’t have this feature 8. Aloy is alone most of the time because of the story….which i don’t mind to be honest 9. Fully agree. 10. That’s what wiki fandom or other similar sites are for. Don’t think it’s fully needed…but i do have to agree that adding deacription for characters was a good refresher

    I mean the only thing I want… is for Tilda to be alive lol we didn’t actually see her die… we just saw her arm… she was invaded in a metal shell… totally possible she was just unconscious…. And I think it could be a really good story if she were alive and is trying to gain back Aloy’s trust…

    I hope Nemesis can be redeemed rather than merely destroyed. I would appreciate it if there were multiple possible endings rather than just one as it has been so far.
