Assyrians Hoplite in the exact same stats from Return of Rome face off against every unique unit from regular AoE2: DE.
The Hoplite is a heavy infantry unit in Age of Empires that can be trained at the Academy from the Bronze Age. It is the earliest and weakest of the Academy's trio of units; however, it is still one of the most powerful melee troops in Age of Empires.

Finally, a unit defeats the unstoppable War Elephants.
so... if the damage is melee, it has no freaking chance i'm curious if the generic phalanx/centurion win some of those archer/organ gun fights the assyrian hoplite lost (because the melee fights its guaranteed to win harder)

Im also curious that how you can make aoe unit and aoe2de unit fight. Does it require specific mod?

How'd you get AoE units in Aoe2?
Anything that does melee damage cannot even scratch to Hoplite/Teutonic Knight. It's why Chu Ko Nus appear so broken while Mamelukes and even War Elephants appear helpless.
You can do it with normal stats? i mean every unit of Rome is broken
Okay, but if any of the ranged cavalry could've kited them, it would've been over for those hoplites!
Not that the game has to be historically accurate, but the Hoplite's armour and damage should be about on par with a MaA (or worse) considering the difference in metallurgy quality. They shouldn't deal so much damage while being so tanky when translates to AoE 2. 😁

The quality in metallurgy was optimal in the bronze age, not the same quality as the industrial era but it was good; a dendra panopli with shield can protect you well from swords and spears.
Beats literally every single melee UU in the game, and some of the ranged ones too😂

This super SSj1(hoplite) and next SSJ2(Phalanx) and aáááááááááááááááááááááááááááááááááááááááááá this SSJ3(Centurion).(and cartagiens versions +25%hp this SSJ4)
Ok, now i undestand why Microsoft dont allow to keep together AOE 1 and AOE 2 units.
And they think that, except for improvements +7 and +6, this is a generic Hoplite that you get in the bronze age without even shields Now imagine a Greek or Macedonian Centurion

At full upgrade, the hopelites have +3 piercing armor (roman) and +5 piercing armor (macedonian). I hope you can fix this and remake this mission
