Hopi Messenger - Thomas Banyacya, Sr. (1909-1999)

Hopi elder Thomas Banyacya (1909-1999) was selected as spokesman for traditional leaders in 1948, after atom bombs triggered Hopi awareness that the prophecized "gourd full of ashes" had finally appeared. We worked with Thomas from 1977 through 1999 and were fortunate to film him at Chaco Canyon, in Washington D.C. and at sacred migration sites around the Four Corners area. His humor, good spirit and wisdom will long be remembered.
In June 2011, Santa Clara elder José Lucero and Onondaga Chief Oren Lyons organized a memorial gathering to celebrate Thomas at the foot of Navajo Mountains and they asked us to put together a short film remembrance of the Hopi Messenger. This film is the result, published here for the first time in September 2017, with the permission of Thomas's family. Enjoy.
P.S. (March 31, 2020) We are posting "Hopi Prophecy by Thomas Banyacya (1995) Part 1 of 2" • Hopi Prophecy by Thoma... - check it out.

Years ago I was just driving near Tuba city and I picked up a hitchhiker, his name was David and he was Hopi. He asked me if I had a place to stay and I said no. He invited me up to the third mesa. Kykotsmovi village. David’s family made me food and let me park my car over night. It was very peaceful and beautiful. I pray the Hopi people and people like them inherit the Earth. They know how to respect it.

Clara Isely thank you...I’m gonna look this up as well...as the country is supposed to be a corporation & all its citizens as well...everythung w/our names on it means the fictitious person, the person assumed dead at sea...the strawman=Capitis Deminutio Maxima=Latin for taking the most rights away from the citizen. If you google it & scroll down, you will see a couple videos about this...supposedly made in jest, but telling the truth according to Black’s Law Dictionary! The USA has been in capital letters for some time & is listed like most countries on the stock exchange...not sure which one though...I did see China, as well...😐

Clara Isely but supposedly USA is a corporation & not really sure if they consider it a country really...will that be a stumbling block?? That Admiralty Law declares us all w/birth certificates lost at sea! They supposedly put the real ones on trading paper & depending on your work, they are traded...we are bonded surety! I know that when those who became sovereign, had to do things just right & answer just right or to jail they went..,esp. if poor! It costs more than a few thousand dollars to buy one’s freedom, then when some do...they end up in jail, due to some wrong answer! It’s very complicated! I watched Ken, house of cousins who bought Hi sovereignty & created Panterra.org & another website as a school to learn more...he has the ability to print his own money & actually doesn’t have to pay taxes! He has a gated community of other people who have done the same, I believe...he was on youtube.

Absolutely, I am in total agreement with this prophecy, but it has been a long time coming. When Rep. Deb. Haarland was running for office I ran quickly to vote for her I wondered if the indigenous peoples time had come. She was elected and she's like a mother to her children. And she loves us all. Yet, i knew she would. I am not sure how things will unfold but NM is blessed to have her as our care taker. I first began to hear, see and know at about 3 or 4 yrs old. Not sure how I just sometimes know. More grace to you and yours. Blessings

I did not know about this prophecy. About 3 weeks ago I had a dream. I was walking on land like in the video. I was speaking a language that I did not know. I then gave the interpretation. I said that Indigenous people were going to rise. Up and take back their land (heritage). It was a powerful dream. Family memories passed down say I have an Indigenous great -great grandmother who was a medicine woman. Only reason I see for me to have a dream like this.

Trinia Alexander to me it’s not about taking back the land because everyone here is welcome. For me it’s about learning to coexist and work together in harmony. To teach our little ones that the way we have lived not only destroys our spirit but also Mother Earth. She takes care of us when we take care of her. To live in peace and stop violence amongst each other. To respect one and another in our different beliefs. Be it race, creed, sexual identity and the shade of ones skin. Mother Earth is here for us all. This message is for all. No one, not one is perfect. For me. I strive to be a better human being than the one I was yesterday. ✌🏽❤️🌎🌍🌏

If you can't take it with you when you die...it's not worth having. And what's worth having? Cynthia Akana so, how do we not use their money system?? My friend & I were hoping to participate in a UBUNTU movement...the only one I know of that may be still working or in the process is Canada...trying to set it up so they can live off the land & eventually not use money! But I am on disability, I hate it! And if I weren’t trying to come off this poison they call a Benzodiazepine, which can cause Early Onset Alzheimer’s, I’d be able bodied, mostly, with the except for a double curved spine. So...trying to come off this drug is exponentially more difficult than coming off any street drugs, so those who have done both, have said...and it also injures the Central Nervous System...which, when coming off too fast causes temporary dementia! So...I don’t want to participate, but I don’t know where to start! My closest family is all deceased & only a few friends are left in my area. I am blessed to have not lost my mind completely from this drug they peddle. But I’m not sure what the next step is! My friend had sent letters to all the small towns about UBUNTU type living...like most indigenous peoples, it is about community & all taking care of each other & themselves as they are able...I asked what I could do to help...I will have to ask again...I’m not sure if he heard from any of the towns to which he wrote. Not all my memory is back from that drug...I will reread all you have written. Thank you! Peace to you, peace to all! I just realized now that we have the same first name...it’s very early in the morning here, but I wanted to read your response.

EVERY people, every nation only knows a fraction of all of the terrible portions of their history that included everything that you are wringing your hands over here; war, empire, enslavement, pillaging-all of it and without exception. Those sorts of tales are NOT going to be passed down in any oral tradition and as it is said: the victor writes (records) the history. Please look into historical facts and get over it. There's nothing new under the sun. Really, it's okay to be white. BTW the most recent evidence says that Caucasians were the original inhabitants of the America's.

My father also met him and tells some of his stories to me. They are eye opening about what is really going on in this world and what some people do to get in touch with the earth while others do the opposite. My father also often traveled to the Hopi’s land in New Mexico and learned so much from the elders and sacred ceremonies. The only reason I say this, is because he is now teaching these stories and experiences to me and it’s inspiring to see people who have also heard these stories and will pass them down.

I heard Thomas Banyacya talk in Vancouver in the 1990's. The hall was packed with people and more people standing in building stairwells and steps and crammed in everywhere. He was very worried for us and for the balance of the planet. Hopi prophecy was coming true. The strange thing about his North American tour was that a major earth event happened every stop he made. I thought "...but not in here in Vancouver..." except driving home the water was up to my car door. Sure, it rains in Vancouver, but this was extreme, 12 inches of water and I was driving on a hill. We have forgotten who we are, but Thomas and his brothers know who they are and they have not forgotten.

Cynthia Ennis -“ITS TOO LATE!” Live without money? Everybody shares what they have? You are a child. That would be great. But in the ‘Real World’, you know, that world WE live in, money is how you get things. This was all done by design. Centuries ago! And: Yes! BY THE WHITE MAN! Pull a dollar out of your pocket. Know why it says ‘Federal Reserve Note?’ Because if you BARROW on it They can charge you interest on it. And don’t get me started on taxes. JFK tried to get us on our own U.S. Dollar money system. He really tried! So the ‘People’ could keep more of their own money. Guess what happened to him? By the time you are picking vegetables out of you’re garden the government will be charging you a Sun Tax! I don’t mean to be mean. Really. But it’s probably too late to do anything about it. I’m sorry. I’m just a low working class white boy. And I’m a veteran, so they really hate me.

I met Thomas in the summer of 1978 on the Longest Walk. He invited me to come to Arizona to hear the Prophecy. When I got home to south Dakota , I rested for a week , then took off hitchhiking to Arizona. I didn't have a map, or his phone number , I just knew he lived on Hopi Land. When I got into Arizona and people would ask me where I was going, I would say I was going to see the Hopi Holy Man, Thomas Benyacya. They would say "go that way". It took me 2 day to find him , most of it hitchhiking on the Navajo nation Reservation. I finally got there late at night of the second day in Arizona , I slept on the ground outside his house with several other people who were also traveling to see him and hear the Prophecy. I spent two days with him, I was given access to the first , second, and third mesas. Where outsiders weren't allowed to go, It's been too long I don't remember which are closed to outsiders. But I learned from him . Years later while listening to a lecture in a college biology class. Some scientists came to visit. O of them was Hopi, he talked about the human genome project. When he was done , I told him I had met Thomas Benyacya and had heard the Prophecy from him. He told me that Thomas had passed on to the spirit world a couple of years before. But he said that it was a great honor to meet someone who had met and spent time with Thomas Benyacya. My college instructor hated me after that.
