I'm 45 and my first car was '71 Malibu. Swapped out the tired 307 for a lightly warmed over 350 backed with a TH350. Bench seat, 4 wheel drum, power steering and A/C. Ripped the dead air con out when I swapped the engine to save weight. I later planned to Vintage Air it before she decided she wanted to be a BBQ more than she wanted to continue to be my daily driver. Miss it to this day, but they're so out of range monetarily, I doubt I'll ever be able to own one again.

My first car, I was forced to buy, at exactly 16 years old, by my 28 year career Army Dad, was a $900, purple with black stripe 1973 Gremlin 232 6 cylijder auto. I told my Dad after almost daily getting into fights at school, that I was going to wrap it around a telephone pole if he didn't let me sell it. I used the $1000 I got for the Gremlin with a new $39.95 Earl Sheibs special paint job, and I than bought a $1000, black on black 1966 Chevelle Malibu, 327/375hp auto and went from being called not so nice names, to car wise, one of the coolest kids in high school. By the way April could pick up my 63 year old self in a YUGO! As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇

My cousin had a 70 Chevelle with the 454. Black on Black but no stripes. He later had thin pinstripes added to the fender and body lines front to back with little flourishes at the tips. For the 1st two years he had it he drove it a few times a week but then someone tried to steal it out of his driveway and he cleared out his garage and the car lived there for the next 45 or so years. The only time it came out was for maintenance or the 4th of July. He fired it up. Came down the driveway and as soon as the front tires hit the pavement he let it rip. Always 10 minutes later he would be back and put the car away in the garage for another year. When he passed away his new wife sold the car before any of the family could even ask about it. She HATED the Chevelle but loved the fact that it was worth a boatload of cash which she got when it sold.

I love that April calls it a door panel instead of a door card. You can tell all the Americans who grew up learning about cars by watching Top Gear. In 1970, my uncle came by my parents home with a 454 Chevelle in a metallic blue-grey colour. I was six at time, but I remember it as "the car where the back end kept wanting to pass the front end." I know it was a 454 because there was a raised metal 454 logo on the dash in front of the passenger seat that I ran my finger along repeatedly, In my memory, it was a notch-back, but since they didn't make notch-nack Chevelles in 1970 or put 454s into the earlier cars, I'll put that down to the Mandella Effect. He stayed with us for a bit over a week, just long enough for me to fall in love with that car. Today I have a 1:18 scale die-cast model of a 1970 LS6 in approximately the same colour which my wife bought me as a pre-emptive measure, and I have promised never to have more 1:1 scale cars than I can drive in a week.

I took my driving test at the age of 16 in my mother’s 1969 Chevelle Malibu. It had the basic 350 engine, but the carburetor was badly in need of a rebuild. The car almost stalled while I was making a left turn, but I kept it going by keeping my left foot on the brake and hitting the gas with my right. When I let off the brake the car lurched forward, and I made the turn without stalling. But I got marked off for ‘lack of smoothness’ or some such thing. But there was a happy ending. The minimum passing score for the driving test was 70 and my score was a 71. I got my license, and I’ve kept it for the last 51 years.

My first car was a 10-year old beater 69 Chevelle with a 327 and automatic. It had sat in a driveway for a couple years but I got it running. I had to wire in a bypass switch for the starter and a manual choke control and the ignition switch was wore out so it could be started with almost any key. It was a filthy beats but I wish I kept it and cleaned it up. It wasn't really special but it could have been restored nicely.

April talking about an "iconic body" is funny to me. I'm also 60 years old so she would get my attention in this car. Honestly, difficult to focus on the car in this review. 🤣 I have a 1970 Chevelle LS6 w/an M22 tranny in this same color combination, which I think is the best. Having a pretty girl that's into muscle cars is also a great combination. I heard the 1st gear whine of the rock crusher so I'm pretty sure its an M22 (not an M21). Fun review guys.

Awesome classic Chevy 💎Great video Tyler
The chop is amazing.
For GM, the 11:1 compression engines, that also had a solid lifter camshaft, like the LS6 454, and certain 427's and 327's GM did allow AC. This LS5 would allow you have AC. You guys are great.

And as a 9 year old, I was scared to death of it, but I also thought it was effing' awesome at the same time. That's my book for the day...
I love that April calls it a door panel instead of a door card. You can tell all the Americans who grew up learning about cars by watching Top Gear. Such a rad car!! That is right up there with your C2 Corvette.
Granted Chevelles are probably the most common muscle car from that era. There's tons of them even today. That ending was hilarious...lol
Tyler, you need to grow a mustache like your dads. We need to see this.
I owned a 1970 GM A-body for 31 years. They are simply right, in a whole lot of ways. Easy to drive, easy to fix, easy to modify, and uncomplicated. Solid engineering as well, and durable. At least mine had very high build quality from Flint. A 68 to 72 GM A-body is extremely popular for a reason. Not to mention GM Design was hitting it out of the ballpark with physical appeal.
Best car youtube couple in the history of youtube ❤❤🎉🎉🎉😂
My best friend owned a 1970 Big Block El Camino SS 4-speed that I loved. That car was a beast
My old boss at the chevy dealer back in like 1999 went to Barett Jackson and came back with a 1970 Chevelle SS LS5 4 speed manual in that same color combo. Was an awesome car. He had it brought into body shop right away and had it totally redone to perfect.😊

I look forward to every upload to Hoovies Garage and have seen every upload I think. Now to fill the gaps, we have this channel. Love y'all so much. Every car guy dreams for a girl like April. She could turn this gay car guy str8 for real! 🤣😍
Nice "that's what she said" reference :)
Tyler do, it get a Chevelle maybe a Yenko …..do…it I just recently bought a 13 Lexus ISF in ultrasonic blue off my close friend and I’m glad I decided to pull the trigger. I love this car.

Oh man, back in highschool a friends dad owned this in yellow and black stripes. He gave it to my friend and let us take it out, we had taken it to the city one night and it was just a day... Even pulled over and the cop let us go. Something about that experience , always makes me appreciate muscle cars from that era.
