    Looking forward to more coverage on the best hooks. I am fortunate that Mad Katz in Rockingham is only 20 to 30 minutes away from my home so I will pick up hooks from them and also try some from Ironside Catfish. Thanks for continuing to help and share your knowledge with us. 🎣🔨

    I missed what I believe to be 2 good cats yesterday morning by reeling down on them, maybe I have just not mastered that. I always give a light hook set or long pull and reel. Now sometimes fresh bait is hard for us to come by so we use quit a bit of chicken and it can roll over the point with the dinks working it. I use 8/0 Gamakatsu. I agree with what your saying and I am going to try both of those hooks. Great video very informative.

    I’ve been using the Mustad Demon Perfect Circle 10/0 hooks. I like those pretty well and they’ve got a smaller shank on them. The gamakatsu style hooks are not as good but they’ll catch fish too. Tight lines Micka!

    Might have been mentioned before, but I like the Mustad Demon Offset Circle, 3X Strong, 10/0 …another short shank hook. You could get away with less than the 3x strong though, they’re pretty thick.

    That looks like a "Kahle" shaped circle hook. Kahle's used to be the preferred hook for live and chunk baits because of the large gap and the staight pull angle. Im thinking you might have found a "best of both worlds" hook. Im really enjoying your testing videos. Big thumbs up!

    I fish from the bank, but something that tends to work for me is reeling down somewhat slowly on the fish with the rod damn near horizontal to the water until I feel a good amount of tension. From there I will sweep the rod to either 10 o'clock or 2 o'clock (depending on my standing position) to drive the hook home. This seems to work great for me with all of the hooks I've tried.

    Your boat is similar to mine. How did you fasten your multi bars and is it working out? I am concerned about it flexing and tearing the aluminum.

  • @mickaburkhart14

    @mickaburkhart14

    Well I used nutserts or blind nuts whatever they are called to mount the rod holders. Just measure and drill the holes and crimp them in. And mout the MultBar. I had them like that on my last boat and never had any issues. Haven't had any issues with thus one either.
