He also paid for her late boyfriend John Cazale to be in that movie as he was dying of cancer and they that he was a liability. That was the boyfriend Meryl took care of until the day he died.

Altough Hollywood have so many great actresses,none of them are so talented as Meryl...She can play everything..She became the person she needs to act...You just forget who she realy is...Love her...She doesn't hold records for nominations for nothing...😊

“The Bridges Of Madison County” is not only my favorite of her films, it’s an exquisite, understated, heartbreaking, soul wrenching performance and film. The two leads are regular looking people. Not Hollywood gorgeous. And they are mature adults, not twenty somethings. It’s a special, very unique film. The chemistry between her and Clint Eastwood who directed the film also, is tangible and real. You can cut the sexual tension with a knife. And when the children are reading her story after she dies, the writing for that part is truly remarkable. They read these words and start to learn a secret knowledge of their dead mother’s life, and discover they never really knew her at all, or all she had given up in order to stay with them. The writing in the diaries is truly brilliant and true to life, devastatingly honest and deep. I’ve seen it many times over the years, but only watch it every once in awhile because it breaks my heart in two and I weep every time, and think about loves I’ve known and lost over the years. And many of them were a secret knowledge and heartbreak, just like hers in the film. But no matter how many times I’ve seen it, and despite already knowing the ending, every single time when they are both in the trucks at the stop light and the light turns green, and she’s got her hand on the door handle and her husband oblivious beside her, beeping his horn, I think “get out of the truck, please go, a love like this comes but once in a lifetime”. My heart just breaks for all of them in that moment. But especially her. It’s such a real moment. And then she goes to the pantry to cry her soul out. It’s a a scene that I personally relate to very much and one that many of us have lived in our own lives in one variety or another. That movie is unjustly underrated. Even though to me, It’s a million times better than that sappy, sugar coated, trying too hard, Notebook movie. Which I’ve seen once and that was enough. All hail Meryl. An actress Like her “comes but once in a lifetime”. 😉

I spent quarantine going through Meryl's body of work. And then watching the interviews for that specific project. What a revelation! You realize how much she advocates for each and every character she plays. Watching this tribute is the perfect way to bookend the exercise! Beautiful. Thank you very much!

Animalkisser I need to see “Julia”...can’t believe I missed it. I think Kramer v. Kramer was the first movie I ever saw with her in the lead. I read years ago she has an Ivy League college education. She’s not just a pretty face but a deep, educated woman.

I'd pay to watch Meryl Streep knit and I hate knitting so much that I succeeded splendidly in forgetting how as soon as I learned. I'd watch Meryl Streep read the phone book as she did on one of those late night talk shows in every shade of character demanded of her on the spot. I'd watch Meryl Streep...what a limber, fascinating, breathtakingly wide range she has. We are gifted with her "body of work" as it grows every year in the most unpredictable and pleasurable ways. To moviemakers everywhere: keep hiring her. And hire more women actors who bring so much to the table and the discussion because they are so infrequently seen contributing the bounty of their wisdom, depth and talent.

I realized how talented she was when I saw Sophie's Choice at the movie theater with my sister when it first came out. That movie changed me I swear. I actually just watched Heartburn 2 nights ago on Amazon prime. That is such a good movie, it's funny ! I need to see Julia (the one with Jane Fonda) and The French Lieutenants Woman. Such an astonishing and captivating personality. Perfect really. She is also the best actress in the history of film-making, giving me such pleasure throughout my lifetime with her steady stream of wonderful works.

This was divine!

When she was young she was stunningly beautiful (and she still is), and could not be less superficial or concerned with her looks. That is a rare quality you really don’t see anymore, especially in this current world we live in where most people only want to be famous and it’s they are “me, me, me” and “self, self, self” ALL the time. It also enabled her acting to be so stratospherically good. She could and can embody the character completely because she has no egotistical barriers preventing her from giving over totally. Btw my favorite of her movies are The Bridges Of Madison County (although I weep every time I watch it so I don’t watch it often), Devil Wears Prada, Adaptation, and Sophie’s Choice (also weep, same thing as above).
