i played the cello from the age of 7 until 22, and i'm utterly amazing...first chair in every orchestra i ever played in. electric, robotic, razor-sharp precision and perfection. as an asian-american myself, i can't help but wonder what kind of terrible threats and guilt their parents might have laid on them. stuff like "DO BETTER! PRACTICE MORE! FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!!!" just like my parents did to me. 4 hours of practice each night, 7 days a week...no days off. no holidays. no breaks. not even to use the bathroom. i literally didn't have one day off from the day i started at age 7 until i graduated from college at 22. nowadays i can't stand looking at the damn cello. i haven't touched it since the day i graduated from college. just looking at the god damn awful thing makes me hear my mom's voice in my head: "DO YOU WANNA BE A LOSER YOUR WHOLE LIFE?? DO BETTER! NO EXCUSES!! I WILL NOT HAVE ANY LOSERS IN THIS FAMILY!!! YOU ARE GOING TO BE GOOD AT SOMETHING AND MAKE SOMETHING OF YOURSELF!!!" i showed her, though. i dumped that god-awful instrument in my basement where it can rot in peace. good fucking riddance -_- my wife isn't asian. she's white, and she plays the piano "pretty well". i adore listening to her play with non-robotic, non-razor sharp imperfection. you know why? BECAUSE SHE LOVES DOING IT. SHE PLAYS THE PIANO JUST FOR FUN. SHE ACTUALLY ENJOYS IT BECAUSE NOBODY WAS BREATHING FIRE DOWN HER THROAT EVERY HOUR OF EVERY NIGHT. i was NEVER allowed to do ANYTHING "just for fun". it was always "SUCCEED! WIN!! BE THE BEST OR DON'T EVEN BOTHER!!" i'd give anything to be able to play music like my wife does. unfortunately, that can't ever happen. i've tried to play the violin, the guitar, even the ukulele....but i still hear my parents' saying "BE THE BEST OR DON'T BOTHER! DO YOU WANNA BE A LOSER YOUR WHOLE LIFE??" parents...please don't EVER do that to your kids. suck out all the life, the soul, and the fun....make something into constant torture and bitterness and anger and resentment. music is supposed to be FUN. please let it BE FUN. please?

roflmows i heard their parents are very supportive. And Honoka has said she isn’t forced to practice or anything, she practices when she wants to. They play for passion for the music and instrument.

I love playing their songs and I play many instruments, I’m in choir, and I graduated as the Valedictorian of my class. My parents never ever forced me to do any of the things I do. Some people just enjoy music
