This is absolutely beautifully edited. A true masterpiece that makes me really nostalgic for Hong Kong :( Deserves so many more views!
I was in Hong Kong in the early 2000s. It was still very much the HK of the 90s,that neon, rainy cantonese-only vibe. The handover had happened only six years prior. Its all gone now, most of the business and land owning families have been replaced by ones that control Shanghai. Thats not an accident. Beijing is a very different place. It does not necessarily control every aspect of daily life, because the party line moves so often. I got captured by MSS in Guangzhou in 2006. They told me i had been under surveillance since i crossed over from New Territories (about 36 hours). I was interrogated twice. Once for about 4 hours , again for God knows how many, and then not again. They wanted to know about the Electoral College. I wish i was joking. They let me go a week later without a word. I had to cross to HK illegally. All im gonna say is it was the hardest thing ive ever done.
This masterpiece enriched my life. This is a true piece of art worthy of admiration.
I’ve rewatched this video so many times I love it so much!
amazing edit, you are very talented!
This is great 👍🏻 love the vibes. Well made video. Have a great day 😊
I had to leave Hong Kong in early 2020 due to the protests against the Chinese government, I haven't been back since. This made me reallly miss it and I cried a little I won't lie, thank you, this is beautiful :)

this video was either my phone (Samsung a32) or Nikon coolpix b500. I colorgrade the footage on adobe premiere pro
It's a sad city. Lot of money there but lot of poor people
Premiere filters here are bleeding my eyes. Its not easy make what Doyle made even after all these years.

I'm not qualified at ALL haha but thank you! all I really do is toggle the temperature so it's warmer, turn up the green highlights and down the contrast & whites. I grade on premiere pro

@@NEXC there really aren't settings (i wish there were but genuinely I was just playing with Premiere until it looked right). This below is generally what I try but very reliant on what your shot looks like. Main tips are to increase temperature (warmer), add a bit of tint (greener) for that film-y effect. Turn up saturation. With color curves, I usually push the reds down in the background. Contrast and shadow slightly up for most of it, depending on the shot though as some footage already had nice shadows. Add noise and glow. That's all I rmb for now since I use Davinci Resolve and it's much better as a color grading tool. If you're really struggling I recommend you try the 'color matching' option on Premiere, where you can match the coloring of your footage with an existing shot, eg. a screenshot from a movie with similar tones/values.

I love this, but I feel some classic HK music would be better, the music used in this video just doesn't go well with the scenery.

I've always been inspired by the variety of music in wong kar wai's films regardless of where it's from but i get what u mean :) personally I like the 50s 60s music bc it was very present in his own upbringing and influenced me too
可以问下这个bgm吗

dream by the pied pipers :)
meh, bad sound design with a little bit too loud background noise, some shots were shaky and zoom-outs were a bit jarring, color correction too high at parts but ultimately pretty enjoyable with alot of potential, also the shot at 0:59 is stunning overall i give it a hard 6.5/10
